After having done some research, apparently there is an Orange store at Terminal 1 in the airport that's open 24 hours. Might be able to buy a SIM there. I have concerns about Orange's coverage though upcountry

some family mart stores also sell sims and reloads. they are usually open 24h!
craigoz, even there is no signal all the data will be stored on the chip unless you delete it! the sim card might be non-operational for many years already but the data(like last callls, phone book etc.) will be still there unless it was deleted!

Someone told me that with the One-2-call SIM card, you get 500B worth of calls, and it is 500B. So, in effect, the number is free? Can anyone confirm this?
Where is the best place to pick up a prepaid SIM card? Do different stores price them differently?
I will use it mostly for receiving calls from the US (which I'm told are free of airtime charges), so I'm looking for the cheapest card to get going with a Thai cellular number.
