but it is an unlocked / unlockable 3g ipone? correct? or now you want to move your criteria for what is an unlocked iphone as for mine, yes apparantly fedex have delivered something to my office today, but im in london today back in dubai sat pm will open it then and take photos i got mine from a dealer, I will happily share with you but as you are so adamant im full of shit whats the point? you are getting one from your own source anyway and interesting to read you are buying one, from where? you will sell your standard one? will you unlock your phone or keep it on its own network?

And here we go again - I am amazed you are able to hold down a job, in the manner in which you are so hopelessly confused about simple issues. Yes, I'm getting one - from the AT&T Store. I have no need for an unlocked iPhone 3G at this point. I am keeping my old one, as my old one is my 'travel' phone and it will remain that.

Actually, no, my criteria never wavered - this discussion is about the hack to unlock iPhones, and their availability. You are the one who not so cleverly is shifting that target to now fit your argument...

First of all - there may be others interested in such a cool deal - that being said, I don't see the point of the secrecy over your source, if it's such a non-big-deal Lastly, I would love to see what they advertise. You make the big claims, you should back them up with details to support them.

no I wont, im not a huge fan of touchscreens, I type too fast and we covered this earlier, the thunder is to try and attract / keep some bberry fans who might prefer a touchscreen, same as that flip clamshell one the kickstart

well its not your business if the dealer prefers secrecy - maybe he is not in a position to advertise what he is doing - maybe he is an apple dealer and using other peoples details to illegally unlock and activate more phones i dont know exactly how he does what he does, but the one I tested worked fine in the uk with my dubai sim card and I ordered one which he sent to me, no doubt you will now tell me that he is stalling while he unlocks it etc etc and that the one I tested was a demo one etc but I know the guy what big claims? I said im getting an unlocked iphone, whats to big? im hardly the first person in the world to get one, and I didnt queue outside a store for 2 days! i will ask him if he wants his details plastered all over the net, if he does I will tell u who he is then u can buy one. but as you have already said you dont need one, you only need his details so you can corroborate my story, right? not that I would ever expect you to apologise when you find out that I am right. more likely the forum would crash again and more pages would mysteriously disappear like last time??! or you would just ask a load more questions to detract from the fact that maybe just once you were wrong? god forbid that ever happens hahahah

If only you had read ONE SENTENCE beyond the quote you quoted, then your entire "J'accuse" soliloquy would not seem so silly and further confused -- that's it, you *must* be a teacher, or be involved in the teaching profession.
Quote: from snpark on 1:47 pm on July 18, 2008 the thunder is to try and attract / keep some bberry fans who might prefer a touchscreen
Which is so funny how every single competitor of Apple's simply is not 'getting it' - it's not the touch-screen, stupid, it's the operating system and the ecosystem... This pretty much summarizes it: http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyimages/1128.gif
Quote: from snpark on 1:53 pm on July 18, 2008 so was your old iphone ever unlocked? or is it still the same standard locked one
My very first original AT&T iPhone was never unlocked, I just bought a second one to mess with and unlock - which then became my travel iPhone.
Quote: from snpark on 2:02 pm on July 18, 2008 well its not your business if the dealer prefers secrecy
Suddenly it became a 'secret dealer' preferring 'privacy' - odd for an unlock that allegedly is not such a big deal.

In a nutshell.
Quote: from snpark on 2:02 pm on July 18, 2008 not that I would ever expect you to apologise when you find out that I am right.
I have no problem apologizing if I was wrong, however unlikely that would be in this case -- of course, the way you (*cough*your dealer*cough*) are stalling it might end up being so far in the future that unlocked iPhones are commonplace, in which case your whole point will have been moot. Of course, seeing as how your secretive dealer apparently had unlocked iPhones the very first day they were released, I know pretty much that I'm right. Just as a quick summary of what is, currently, available and possible: - Purchasing a legally unlocked iPhone via France, or Italy, where the iPhones are available in an unlocked state, by law (though still require a contract.) In this case, the iPhone costs roughly $1,100. - Buy it in Belgium, for $1,500, without a contract, and not carrier locked - really, the only entirely 'open' option. - Buy a Brazilian unlock SIM chip (requires cutting up your own SIM card, and piggy backs on your own SIM) for about $375, to SIM unlock an existing iPhone 3G - still leaves you to find a contract free iPhone. - Buy it via a shady Hong Kong dealer, allegedly selling 'Apple Unlocked' iPhones, at a minimum quantity of $1,000 and 1,000 pieces.... and hoping you actually get them delivered, after you order. That' pretty much the state of 'unlocked' iPhones right now, none of which are 'really' unlocked, i.e. as an after market software hack. http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/42583223/safe-code
