I was not critical of the devices - HTC devices are generally well-built

My comment was directed towards HTC as being lame to not fix the problem and just move on producing new phones. I do agree with you on the point about them not seeming to care much.

The management may suck but I can't complain about the service I have gotten. Maybe I was just very lucky.

I got the Qtek S200 (really the same as the I-mate Jamin) because it had a 2 yr warranty instead of 1 yr. That turned out to be a very good move. My speaker on my Qtek S200 died once and they fixed it. Then it died again and when they sent it back to me it was not only not fixed but completely DOA.

I did have to complain a bit but they offered to give me a gold box of a just released phone. I thought that was very good considering I was on month 21 of the two year warranty. I didn't want a gold box because it is only for dealers to use for demonstration and has no warranty. My very nice distributer agreed to take the phone and give me a full credit for what it would have cost him to buy it direct from HTC.

I had to wait till the Cruise was available but then got it for less then half price and it was a retail version with a warranty.

One nice thing about the HTC products is if you are into modifing them there is tons of cooked roms you can install.

i use 2 phones because both are shitty, so I just wanted to double my pain...
I have an htc running mobile microsoft and a blackberry curve. in the end I have decided that I only want to use a phone for email, sms and making phone calls. f*** the rest of the shit.

all the debate about featiures that 99% of the people don't use or have trouble using proves my point. the whole phone thing is out of hand, too complicated and a useless waste of time.

I would rathe rbe spending my time, double penetrating a hot 20 year old with dildoes than trying to figure out how to use my phone functions.

in fact, that just gave me a great idea. I want to see if I can double penetrate above girl with both phones, the htc in her ass and the blackberry curv ein her pussy. probably the best use fo rthem.

Also, when I am out with friends and someone needs to borry my phone, I will let them bporrow the ;shitty' phone.... the htc, while I keep the blackberry and and alll the sweet smells that it will have.

finally dumped my iPhone and bought an at&t tilt. so far, it's okay and has the features I need that the iPhone lacks.

i will comment on it after I use it for awhile.

i wanted to buy a nokia 5800, but it seems to be having release problems. I think I will wait until 2nd quarter next year and see how well it is doing!

cheers...................

Can't wait for snpark to pick up and 'evaluate' his Blackberry Storm, which he must be terribly proud of:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/27/technology/personaltech/27pogue.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

Oh yeah, and no WiFi... Good move on RIM's part -- suicide wish, clearly.

---

How did this thing ever reach the market? Was everyone involved just too terrified to pull the emergency brake on this train?

Maybe R.I.M. is just overextended. After all, it has just introduced three major new phones — Flip, Bold, Storm — in two months, each with a different software edition. Quality-control problems are bound to result; the iPhone 3G went through something similar.

Web rumor has it that a bug-fix software update is in the works. Until then, maybe Storm isn’t such a bad name for this phone. After all — it’s dark, sodden and unpredictable.

Apple made to drop iPhone advert

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7749435.stm

An Apple iPhone advert has been banned by the advertising standards watchdog for exaggerating the phone's speed.

The advert boasted the new 3G model was "really fast" and showed it loading internet pages in under a second.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upheld complaints by 17 people who said the TV advert had misled them as to its speed.

Apple UK said it was comparing the 3G model with its 2G predecessor and its claims were "relative not absolute".

The advert repeatedly stated that the phone was "really fast" and showed news pages and the Google maps service taking just fractions of a second to appear.

Text on the screen said: "Network performance will vary by location."

After upholding the viewers' complaints, the ASA said the advert must not appear again in the same form.

It said the advert was likely to lead viewers to believe that the device actually operated at or near to the speeds shown in the advert.

The watchdog concluded: "Because we understood that it did not, we concluded that the ad was likely to mislead."

Apple said its claims were "relative rather than absolute in nature" - implying the 3G iPhone was "really fast" in comparison to the previous generation - and therefore the advert was not misleading.

The company also said the average consumer would realise the phone's performance would vary - a point they said was made clear by the text stating "network performance will vary by location".

Mafia 'mobile phone gun' seized

A gun disguised as a mobile phone has been discovered by police in Italy.

The.22 calibre weapon was found during an early morning raid on a property near Naples.

Officers also seized bullet proof vests, drugs, ammunition and thousands of pounds in cash.

It was all part of an operation against the Camorra, the Naples-based mafia.

Fully loaded, the gun's capable of firing four shots in quick succession through the antenna using buttons on the keypad as the trigger.

One man was arrested by detectives but others are thought to have escaped.

Research in Motion (R.I.M.), the company that brought us the BlackBerry, has been on a roll lately. For a couple of years now, it’s delivered a series of gorgeous, functional, supremely reliable smartphones that, to this day, outsell even the much-adored iPhone.

ooopss seems you are not as impartial as you make out - forgot to mention this bit in the article did you?
