After reading the FRs where you were mentioned (DrL is da man/DrL doesn't know shit; great stories ) I assumed you were in BKK on vacation. Don't think it's my phone (an "old" Motrolla Timeport) because it doesn't give me any problems with my vodafone card. No harm in trying a DTAC sim next time I'm in BKK, right? Ik neem aan dat je wel een Nederlander bent, toch? Groetjes

Quote: from thaiprivateeye on 12:17 pm on Aug. 5, 2003 DTAC can have problems with getting thru/reception - not surprising seeing the opposition, AIS is owned by the PM, - 1,2 call cards, - yes, AIS, are easy to buy, along with the number, MarBoonKrong sells them for about 700 baht, of which probably half is free calls - your number will "dissolve" dissapear whatever after 3 months if you dont replenish the thing - cards of 300 baht give you 3 months, 500 baht 6 months, or the 1500 baht card will keep you number active for a year - also you can call/text overseas with AIS,[1,2 call] not sure with DTAC -
A little inaccurate. The One2call refill card gives you; 300 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 30 days 500 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 50 days 800 Baht of Calltime Refill Card can be used 100 days Starter Kit consists of One-2-Call! Sim Card with number, personal code and unlocking code User Guide Product Warranty Card Price 888 Baht(Though can be had for 700 baht at MBK centre) http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/th/script/one2call_kit.jsp?lang=eng&menu=2 Better value can be had with; http://www.happydprompt.com/en/index.html or you can; Buy a Dprompt SIM(not HappyDrompt) for 400 baht. This comes with 100 baht worth of calls and about a month of airtime. Then, if you are not already there, go to MBK to buy some of the OLD STYLE 300 baht recharge cards. You'll have to look around for them, don't be fobbed off. They will cost you 480 baht each, but they give you 100 days airtime each. Load your SIM with 3 of these and that will give you almost a year of airtime and 1000 baht worth of calls for 1840 baht including the SIM. Now you won't have the hassle of changing numbers and losing credit between visits. (Otherwise this is the normal amount of airtime you will get; 200 baht Voucher Card : gets 200 Baht with a 20 day time span 300 baht Voucher Card : gets 315 Baht with a 30 day time span 400 baht Voucher Card : gets 400 Baht with a 50 day time span) Once that is done, call *1003 on your mobile and convert your tariff to HappyDrompt, which in effect reduces your calls to half price after the first 2 minutes(2.5 baht per min) and allows you to send international SMS for 3 baht. You can also choose a time slot wherein your calls will be charged at half price without the 2 minute proviso. All this for a one off cost of 50 baht. If you then wish it, you can register for the sending email via SMS service. 3 baht per time... With One2Call the same airtime would cost 2400 baht plus 7 - 800 baht for the SIM card, totalling 3100 -3200 baht. Add to this higher calling costs and 9 baht for international SMS..
