It's very simple.... for many sites only the root address of a domain was blocked, not the second and further pages.

Just to clarify, are we talking proxy (daisy) chaining or just really looooong URLs that seem to get through the blocking ACL?

Apart from those folk who have access to satelite connections that are not filtered, all of the other connections in Saudi are taken straight from the phone company and sent to a university who then monitor every email and web page request. If they don't like the web page that you are asking for then they block it.
So it seems like an encryption service (a la Thevirtualbrowser.com etc) is the best soluton, I think?
Proxy sites don't normally work because the actual sites are blocked. Anything with "proxy" or "annonymiser" etc., in the URL is blocked.
It just happens sometimes that a deep URL e.g.
http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=29&topic=261
might get through but not every time.

I am not quite sure how it works, but I think it's like this:
All the traffic is being put through a filter on a certain port before it reaches the end user.
Attached to that filter (on a certain port) is a list with blocked URLs (not blocked sites, URLs!). That explains why usually not whole domains are blocked but only certain URLs and that many sites work without the 'www' (eg proxy4free.com compared to http://www.proxy4free.com).
By using an anonmyzer or a proxy server (with True port 8000 work fine) the filtering 'escapes' the list.

No,not true.. external proxy servers can access a URL and deliver it to the end user without going through the filter.

What I meant was that here in the sand pit, any url that has "proxy" in it is blocked here so I can't even get to the bloody proxy site!. They seem to have a very intuitive system that "eventually" catches up with all proxy sites.

DL point is a valid one, at one of our customer sites in the UK this website is blocked (aparently for unsafe content  ) but if I type a valid url direct to the forum it works fine 
I heard on another forum that the thai goverment will be able to monitior (ie restrict) every single internet request leaving thailand and they had a thai software company write software for them and they are saying its a world first, anyone have any info about this?

As we've been "enjoying" this sorta treatment for years in the sand pit, I'd say it was a first for Thailand only 'cause the software was written by Thais for Thais.

this list I tried some of the website not long ago and most of them were working it looks more like people want people to try it so they traffic to there site.... I do not think there is a list beucase its not the same for all IP providers.

I agree about the encryption solution. Thanks Baba' for the list but all the ones with "proxy" in the URL are blocked here so I can't access their site. I'll be tryin' the others later.
Another wee problem that I have is in accessing this forum. When I click "classifieds" the URL starts life as http://bkkx.com/classifieds/
then it automatically changes to: http://bkk-tonite.com/classifieds/
and that is blocked.
When I use one of the bypass filter thingys above it get's stuck and reports an error saying that the URL is not available on the server. So that means BK has set it up so that some sites are not accessable to the "public", right? Anyroad round THAT one?
