Set device to GSM only so it is not searching for 3G networks in dual mode.

Turn off WiFi scanning.

Disable GPS.

Terminate applications after using so they don't continue to run in background.

Do all this and you might get a full day of battery life.

The N95 is a PDA first, then a phone. It will need recharging every night like many PDAs do.

I downloaded and installed the barcode scanning S/F for my model and can't f***in' get it to work either, even with the lens set to macro

not that I'd need to f***in' read barcodes really, LOL

I found a lot of apps for it, even a Sports Tracker where you can put in stats of your physical workouts

there was no app for cursing out taxi drivers over 5 Baht however, I guess I'd have to employ the good dr. for that

about the battery, all those tips above, plus turn off bluetooth it sucks up battery power fast

I'm working at an exhibition all day today so I'm ditching my trusty 7610 and going to use this state of the art appliance.

Its Sunday so not many calls, probably only my TG when she wakes up.

I have to keep bluetooth on in my car to make calls (Sunday morning!) so if I remember to switch off bt I will see how well it performs.

I was told to switch off all other gismos in this but makes me wonder what the point is of this phone. Surely the phone company want me to make calls?

I will write my first ever FR on todays events and let you know how it performs. I would have prefered my first FR to be on a different subject so you'll have to wait till July 5th.

what a difference a new battery makes.

Exhibition was a total waste of time. Weather outside too nice for normal people to trapse up and down rows and rows of booths so had plenty of time to play with my new toy.

Made lots of calls, sent several ems, checked out stuff on the net, kept bluetooth on in the car and still have over 80% battery power left.

Love my nokia 95-even tried to scan barcodes but as I havnt received my memory card yet couldn't see the outcome of the bright white light and scanning bar thingy.

I am not really a techie so find it hard to write a juicy FR on a mobile phone however one could compare my original phone like going to Eden running a high temperature with a blocked nose while being dosed up on imodium desperate to take a pee but finding your dick caught in your zipper.

Roll on JUly 5

Barcode reader - intriguing application.

So, I go ahead and download it for my N73 -- and it works like a charm. Of course, I also spent the time reading up on its intended application, and how it is to be used - so maybe that had something to do with it

A better (read: faster) reader may be found over here:

http://reader.kaywa.com/

Again, it has very specific applications, which are probably not what any of you are looking for. Intriguing and interesting, nevertheless - it is intended for WP browsers, and WAP application, to make browsing and typing/finding URLs easier, or sending a quickie encoded message - in case you were wondering.

Try it out here (or just scan in my icon) :

bloody nokia N95

I'm on my 5th handset and I hate the bloody thing. Am insisting on an exchange tomorrow.

Anybody recommend a decent phone (UK orange) tri band?

Try the Asus P535 for a GSM TriBand or P735 for a 3G. The P535 has GPS & works very good in Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore.

Regarding the N95, I picked up an N95 Copy in China about 6 months back because of its dual Sim feature for 1,000 RMB (a bit over 4,500 Baht), whilst the user interface software is pretty crappy (not compared to a Motorola) the actual Phone has not missed a beat! It also takes Mini SD cards & has a touchscreen with a decent Camera. The Dual Sim feature isn't as good as some of the newer China Phones but makes life easier when juggling TG's, VG's & Flippers!

I used my trusty SONY 750i all week without needing a recharge. It is over 2 years old already. It still functions as a phone. From the reports this Nokia N95 is a f***ing joke. What is the use of a mobile device if you have to turn off all the extra features that you paid the extra money for. Maybe they should remarket then as hand warmers to the Eskimo's.
