If I hadn't posted the URL of the article, you wouldn't have known, now would you? http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10084008-37.html Bummer that's no longer true as of November 7th, when Apple overtook RIM in smartphone sales. Glad to see you are still trailing behind the curve....

I guess it's a decent phone if you enjoy hunting down ROM upgrades within a vacuum of information. Of course, there's the usual charm of Windows Mobile (or, anything Windows) : "Due to Windows Mobile it does need a reset now and then but it does not happen often."

I will be happy to comment on the Samsung Omnia! It looked smart and nice and I called my regular shop and asked them to send one over. I opened the box and the machine looked quite nice and slim. I started it and thought that I "as usual" would figure out the basics in an hour or so. The deeper knowledge comes as you use it daily. But I was soon very frustrated. The touchscreen did not function well. Using the finger made you easily miss the item you wanted to activate and you had to go back and start over. Not comfortable or time effective. I spent almost 3 hours trying to become friends with the Omnia but after that time I had not even been able to find out how to change language in it! And the layout is "messy" - it is difficult to find what you are looking for and I had the feeling you had to make "millions" of own adjustments and settings in order to make it work. Instead of your chubby little finger one can use a "stick" to point at the touchscreen. This one is hanging in a string on the side of the phone. Very irritating. Sony Ericsson has such a gadget hidden inside. When using the stick it was more than once difficult to get a response! I tapped and tapped the area - nothing happened. I more and more felt frustrated with this machine and after almost 4 hours just feeling we would never get along as friends I threw the damn thing back in the box and returned it to the shop! I will pick something else later. I have now also read some reviews about it and it seems it is not coming out with flying colors. But there must of course be people out there liking it and getting along well with it! I like tech things and usually always get them up and running in no time. I failed with this phone and felt it was not "easy access and use" via itīs touchscreen. My recommendation is to forget the Samsung Omnia. I also had a brief look at Sony Ericsson Xperia. Doesnt look bad and the keyboard seems a good idea. However even here in this country where it originates from it has had some pretty nasty reviews! So at the moment I want a new business phone but have not decided which one to get!

Google announced today the availability of unlocked G1 phones - what they call the Android Dev Phone 1. Meant for developers so they don't have to wait for T-Mobile to provide unlock codes. But available to anyone who registers as an Android developer ($25 to register). $399 for the unlocked G1 with free shipping to US addresses.
