Quote: from DaffyDuck on 4:04 pm on Aug. 23, 2008 The iPhone 3G will be available for free to Singaporean customers who sign a two-year contract that costs S$205 (US$145) per month, including 1,500 minutes of outgoing talk time and 3G bytes of data access. The cheapest plan for new subscribers costs S$348 for the 8G-byte iPhone 3G and S$508 for the 16G-byte model, and requires them to sign a two-year contract that costs S$56 per month and includes 200 minutes of outgoing talk time and 1G byte of data. The operator did not offer an explanation for why visual voicemail, one of the iPhone 3G's standout features, will not be offered. A Singaporean version of the iTunes Store has never been offered by Apple despite the popularity of the iPod and other products here, likely a reflection of the Southeast Asian city-state's small population of 4.5 million people. The iPhone 3G handsets that will go on sale in Singapore appear to be unlocked, and could be used with networks belonging to other local operators. "It may work but you may not enjoy the same iPhone experience as SingTel only supports iPhone 3G devices that are connected to SingTel's network," the operator said, without specifying what specific advantage its own network will offer over others.
Found the termination question in the FAQ, and basically, one has to pay a minimum of 3 months plus $800 (equipment penalty). Assuming it's unlocked, the cheapest option is to choose iFlexi Plus ($95 per month). The total cost would be: $95 x 3 : $285 + $49 + $800 = $ 1,134 8 GB (~ 27,556 B) $95 x 3 : $285 + $208 + $800 = $ 1,293 16 GB (~ 31,420 B) (exchange rate: $S1 : 24.3 B)

i find it interesting with my blackberry on dubai sim, and my iphone on du sim, in dubai (with no "blackberry" plan, just normal data etc) that sometimes the iphone emails come in quicker than blackberry, even though I have it only on "push" every 15mins certainly its no slower than a blackberry, usually theyre the same time but I just cant handle that touch screen sorry when I press the bin to delete, and im not sure if I touched it properly, I press it again and find I deleted two emails

"Gee," I could facetiously smirk, "Maybe it isn't as unlocked as you thought, after all..." ..but I won't. Instead, I'll suggest you go into your Settings, under Network, and turn 3G *OFF*. It should then acquire a network signal and work fine (just without 3G). (if it's *truly* unlocked) ...and before you go off bitching how terrible that Apple does not work with T-Mobile's network -- T-Mobile has opted to setup 3G on a non-compatible frequency of 1700 MHz, which, in fact, nearly no one else in the world uses, asides from T-Mobile in the USA. This was T-Mobile's choice to do so. You should have just picked up an AT&T SIM - they offer pre-paid as well, and they work just fine in iPhone 3Gs (unlocked, *or* locked, incidentally).

Agree, I prefer the physical keypad you get with blackberrys. I've replaced dozens of touch screens on PDA's over the last couple years. Some of them come in pretty scratched from the stylus after only a years use (screen protectors generally not used as they're a pain in the ass) I guess you can use your fingers? Would seem a little imprecise This is my reason for not owning an iPhone. Oh & the high operating costs - rip off! Sent from my iPhone
