I found a couple of answers since my previous post. One company has a Callback Service (sorry I didnt understand this before) and they also have an international follow me service. For the follow me service I can just subscribe to it and then forward my cell phone to that number. Then the service will forward it to my Thai phone service. For the call back service will my Thai phone service allow me to call a USA toll free number and then hang up without a charge? (This seems to good to be true) Is there a better way to do this that I have found?? Thank you again.

Stupid question but I got a 1-2-call sim-card 3 months ago while in Bkk and the credit will have run out now. I will be returning this week and want to know if I can just add extra credit to the card or do I need to buy another sim card?

I was with you when you bought that sim card bro and if I recall correctly the 3 salespeople who were trying to explain it to you said that the number assigned to that card would expire, permanantly, in 30 days if you didn't recharge the card before then, so even if you did add credit to the card it wouldn't do any good because the number doesn't exist any longer. Of course I may have misunderstood what they were saying also. One of them was kind of hot . Peace

Depends on how often you recharged the card. The more you used it and the more credit you put on the longer the number will be valid. I have been using my 1-2-call for a while and the last time I put credit on it, it said it was valid until june 2005.

I agree, mine went up to November 2005 that was 6 weeks ago. I was also told it was not the amount of times you credit it but the amount you credit on it, i.e. if you put 10 x 500 bt recharge your expiry will be better than 10 x 300 bt, not sure if this is true or not though.

Hey, I coming to Bangkok soon, and want to buy a local simcard. My mobile is not network unlocked, and can't be because I've typed in too many (>5) dodgy codes. I've been told that the only way to get it unlocked now is via a hardware thingy which some phoneshops have. Anyone know if any of the phone shops in MBK offer this service? Thanks.

So I suppose the 12call sim card I purchased last year and haven't used since July 2003 is now stone dead, by the time I arrive in Thailand end of May. Is it possible to purchase a sim card that "never" expires and only require you to buy fresh credit? It's just a pain in the neck to notify all my friends and "mia noi-s" of my new phone number every time I return to Thailand. Sarge

Chance are that, yeah, it's now unusable. My experience is that you can do a couple of things to maintain your number (like I do) : - Make sure you recharge it frequently with 500 Baht infusions. Each infusion adds more time to the SIMs eventual expiration date. Currently, my card expires in May of 2005. - Activate international roaming on the account. That way you can activate it from abroad, check you time left on the SIM, and (most importantly) recharge it before it expires. - Grab a handful of 300 Baht and 500 Baht recharge cards before you leave, and use those to recharge your account from abroad using the above techniques. - You can avloid having to even make the recharge call (and incurring charges) by using the direct request by dialing *1-2-call-top-offnumber*recharge_card_number*# That way, you should be able to keep the same number. If you store all your local numbers on the SIM, then you only have those numbers accessible when in Thailand. Harry

With the DTAC SIM card each time you add 800 Baht, your expiration date is extended 100 days. Every now and then, when you walk by a DTAC shop, drop in and add 800 Baht on your card. Do that a few times and you are good for almost a year.
