anyone know of a high quality piece of software that fixes pics without need for high quality talent on my part?

iPhoto - one problem, you need a Macintosh to use it (it's Mac only). Go to an Apple store (Apple Centre) and ask to play with it (there's one in Siam Discovery that's very well staffed).

Additionally, with Apple's release of the Aperture software, it's pretty much the only real tool to work with RAW images from digital cameras (more advice for professional photographers)

Little Big Man
Started this thread to get information about laptops that members use, and got it. Thanks. I purchased a Toshiba Satellite over the weekend and the store thru in Microsoft Office (levelstudents/teachers), so was a good price. Seems the prices are really starting to come down now, and will probably continue as the new operating system Vista release date gets close.

Now I just have to figure out how to copy 32gb of files from my desktop.

Toshiba M55 Satelite with 1 gig ram and dvd r/w. Battery life is only a couple of hours. Real good for making movies or dvd's from your video camera. I'm happy.

If u want to transfer 32gb of files....buy an external hard disk. I have an iomega, 40gb, about the size of my phone, cost me about 200 swiss francs, probably less here. A good way to backup files also. 32 gb would take about an hour to transfer.

I was going to buy myself an Apple Powerbook to supplement the iMac G5 I bought last year, but have been reading about the new intel-powered Apple MacBook Pro being released later this month.

I'll wait to see what they are like before deciding whether to get the last of the Powerbooks (they're bound to be discounted), or get the MacBook.

Agree with Daffy. Once you've tried Mac, you never go back.
