iPhone 3GS sold a cool million phones over the launch weekend.
4-5 million 3GS sales expected by months end.
It's funny how all the staunch defenders of Nokia's superiority (China Sailor) ("Nokia Profits Drops 96%"), and RIM's superiority appear to have tucked their tail and disappeared...

After unsuccessfully trying to unlock my USA iPhone, I decided to purchase an unlocked iPhone in Bangkok. I was told by True Move that they do not sell unlocked iPhones.
BK suggested I ask for an iPhone with "no contract". That worked and I purchased an iPhone at True Move in Central World Plaza. I told the technician I wanted to use my AIS - 12 Call Sim card. He unpacked what I assumed was an new Phone from the Apple packaging, installed a sim card, and either unlocked the iPhone, configured it to use the AIS card, or who knows what!
It worked fine except I could not access iTunes. I upgraded my USA iPhone to 3.0 using iTunes and decided to try to update the BKK iPhone. iTunes asked my if I wanted to activate the BKK Phone and I decided not to attempt it as I had no idea what would happen.
Daffy suggested I activate the BKK iPhone using iTunes and see what happened. As True Move guaranteed the iPhone for 12 months, the worst that could happen is a return trip to True Move and start all over again.
iTunes recognized the iPhone, activated it, registered it, unlocked it, and upgraded it to 3.0, and provided access to my iTunes account. The only problem encountered was the language was changed back to Thai. That was easy to change as I had gone through that process when I first configured the iPhone - settings - general - international - language.

iPhone 3GS browser faster than Apple's tests, rivals
The web browsing on the just-launched iPhone 3GS is fast enough that it not only beats immediate competitors but even Apple's own claimed testing, mobile ad provider Medialets finds. Using the same SunSpider JavaScript benchmark Apple has used to demonstrate the added speed, the firm says the faster iPhone took about 16.5 seconds to complete the benchmark, or just a third the time of an iPhone 3G with the same iPhone OS 3.0 release. The speed is well above Apple's general claim of having "2X faster" performance across its newer device.
Comparisons against other competitors with strong web browsers also show the 3GS taking a definitive lead. Regardless of its extra RAM and fast OMAP processor, the Palm Pre is only as fast as the previous-generation iPhone in the SunSpider test. The T-Mobile G1, which uses Android 1.5 and so should have a fast JavaScript engine borrowed from Google Chrome, is over five times slower than the iPhone and roughly twice as slow as the Pre.
The difference is close enough that the 3GS has speeds more closely approaching a MacBook with nearly four times the processing power, according to the testers.
Medialets doesn't immediately speculate as to why the iPhone takes the lead, but notes that all four phones' operating systems are using WebKit as their rendering engine and shouldn't see differences in other aspects of rendering websites. However, Apple's 3GS hardware is believed to be the fastest of the three and is combined with a JavaScript engine that normally outperforms Chrome and all other browsers on the desktop.

OK; main point: what percentage of all facilities of the new iPhone do you use? I'd guess that the average tech savvy person will use < 20% of all things that the new iPhone offers - this includes apps down loads.
Am basing my estimates on having worked as an analyst / programmer on IBM AS/400s' in the very distant past. The manuals that IBM supplied with the AS/400 would easily cram a short time hotel room.
No one that I know of had read ( let alone ; used) more than about 10% that was contained in those IBM manuals.
I wished I used as much of my brain as I do with my iPhone.
I'll have to check out this book one of these days.
