The new iPhone 3GS has GPS capabilities fit for driving accurate turn-by-turn navigation (which is why several automobile navigation apps are available already). Based on the test I ran with the Navigon app ($69, app store), the accuracy and reliability is as good as my stand alone GPS system in my car.
iPhone 3GS is now available in Thailand via TRUE, and includes not just the usual GPS capabilities that iPhone 3G sports, but in addition offers a magnetometer (a compass), which really enhances and improves Enhanced Reality apps (like pocket astronomy apps).
In summary - the navigation abilities of the iPhone 3GS are in line with professional stand alone equipment, but need to be paired with third-party software offerings to get the most out of the hardware.

I think the tablet PC market is the next big thing. The problem has been it was never done right. It will be interesting to see what Apps will be in the Apple tablet. I also see it as a Kindle killer color vs. B&W Bye Bye Kindle.

Amazon knows that, which is why they purchased the best eBook reader for the iPhone, in the form of Stanza. Stanza is pretty good, but in terms of pure execution, Eucalyptus is the winner in experience and typography. Any eBook reader to be released by Apple will most likely be very close in design to Eucalyptus (if Apple doesn't just straight out buy them).

While 'analysts' wet-dream it to be released in September, that will NOT be the case. September 7 will be the usual iPod *music* based event -- new iTunes, new iPods, and a lot of tears from Microsoft (whose idiot marketing group releases the new Zune a week later - which will then seem expensive, and retarded).
That's what the September event is all about.
New products will be introduced in the January time frame after that.

any electronics over time break down cause of thermal heat issues... power vs heat dissapation with smaller microprocessor and memory circuits... we've come a very very long way in computing hardware and software progress...
Gotta give Apple the very best in Leading Computer Innovation Award !   face it they make really cool IT based gadgets !
Apple can market change /products on the dime.... R&D to Manufacturing to Market times are industry leader.. while its other pc competitors lag behind / lose out during back to school and x-mas sales markets !
wish ChipZilla can get more Apple contracts... gaming consoles X box and Playstation still heavy weight contenders

more touch, more voice, more cross platform linked software to combine informational data, voice, and video when ever and where ever you need it ! IT Mobility for the masses.... push/ pull / re-edit store and share and report information by ones choice... mobile to home to work with hassle free no memory lock up software !
Google next OS for the retail masses...it may help innovate !
with our IT budgeting and creation it still takes us 10 applications to create and report out field issues with the toolsets..... too much Proprietary in software apps !
too many businesses place emphasis MS Outlook e-mail based send and receive reporting..... heck Outlook is the #1 major reason for virus transmission... and is lousy for creating and merging differing software
