Well my tuppence who doesnt really give a toss what system you use...
(1) If you are a sophisticated user doing video and stuff you prefer mac - most people dont argue with that. It costs more but it seems to work better.
(2) If you are an average users like me you prefer whichever system you have. Vista works pretty well as does mac - mac probably slightly better. But noone will change their system just so their pc boots up 20 seconds faster or whatever.
(3) If you are a new user with plenty of dosh (outside thailand) the preferred system seems to be mac.
(4) Those on a low budget much prefer windows - especially China and India for example. (Excluding linuxed based machines).
For Thailand I think the preferred system is windows in terms of software support hardware and knowledge.
Buy your laptop in LOS with thai/english keyborad. Ask them to install pirated Windows Vista Ultimate and make sure that it it is activated. Ask them load as much pirated software as possible. Ask for two gigs of memory, integrated webcam, and of course wifi. Bargain for no more than 18,000 baht.
