apples lawyers have officially asked for its return
if I was gizmodo I would ask them to prove its theirs before it was returned, otherwise maybe apple want to steal the technology for themselves from whoever's phone it is!?

Nope, don't need to. The design that was revealed by Gizmodo doesn't look anything like what Jonny Ives would design.
While I don't doubt that the innards are Apple tech (that much was proven) the case and enclosure tech is the equivalent of a placeholder -- something to enclose the tech in, so it can be used, but definitely not what the final reveal in June will look like.
It's April -- the final design, nor even the manufacturing, of the enclosure design hasn't even been finalized yet.

The Japanese just keep hating that iPhone:

Apple Inc.’s iPhone shipments to Japan more than doubled in the past year, capturing 72 percent of the country’s smartphone market, a research firm said.
They just keep hating it more and more.
I wish I bothered pulling up the predictions by the usual clue-folks about how Apple will tank in Japan. Yeah, you guys really knew what you were talking about.
