Does anybody know if it is possible to buy a Thai SIM card to access their system. Like the pay as you go we have in Europe ??

you can buy them nearly anywhere!
1-2 call and dtac are the most prominent!
prices start from thb 500 for the sim depending on the number. reloads are avilable up from thb 250!

I have Ye Olde Nokia 5110.
This is a single band steam driven affair.
Is it still possible to get a Thai SIM card for this
museum piece? (phone that is!)

The NK 5110 is a single band GSM900 phone. ÝYou should get the 1-2-CALL prepaid SIM card by AIS. ÝDTAC is only applicable for GSM1800 service.
But check your phone again to make sure the SP service is 'unlocked'. ÝThere are some 'tips & tricks' websites for the NK5110 which will tell you what special codings to punch into your phone to determine the status of SP.
By the way, SP stands for Service Provider.

I've just used my sim card.
I can send sms texts in Thailand but
not international ones ?
Is this usual?
I have a one-2-call card from Pantip.

heard of some 1-2 call numbers which had a bug in the system not being enabled to send international sms. if this is the case better buy a new sim card which should enable you to make international sms!
