I am to go to Thailand soon and want to be able to record some digital video and the question is now if it is much cheaper to buy it in Thailand than in my home contry. Where I live I can buy one with 800,000 pixler for about 28.000 THB. Do you know if that is cheap enough, compaired?

Generally prices in the US (internet discount stores) for that kind of stuff is just as good as Thailand, but I don't know about Denmark. Also, you need to consider the warranty in your country, as well as an software and manuals that come with the product (with regard to your language).

If you list a specific model number, maybe someone can check the exact price if you really want to know. Also, warranties are a little different in the USA than other countries. Generally CanonUSA, PanasonicUSA (Matsushta Electric Corporation of America), etc, do NOT honor international warranties which come with items purchased overseas. But that may be different in Denmark.

DeeDee: I agree with what Mr.Alan has posted. And this is why I don't buy any electronics I can get @ home. But, I live in the U.S and don't know Denmarks prices or policies on different region products. The only two things I've been tempted to buy are: 1) a very small mp3 player with more then 256K worth of space. 2) an all-region dvd player.

Head over to Froogle.com, type in the model you are looking at, and compare prices. I found that most equipment is cheaper in the US due to promotions and rebates. Harry

Thanks guys, I still have about a month or so to decide which model to buy. A few days before I buy it I will try to post it here and see if any of the members in Thailand can give me the Thai-price. If it isnt much cheaper (for what I remember electronics isnt all that cheap in Thailand) I'll just buy it at home.

in my experience, thai (panthip) prices can be as good as US stores for all sorts of hardware, but you will almost always do better purchasing via internet in US than both of the above.

Also, apart from Duty Free stores the majority of Electrical Retailers only sell PAL standard Systems Camcorders! If your a US resident, you require a NTSC System recorder to play it back on a US TV unless it is Multi System TV which are still quiet rare in the US!
