Go to MBK ask any of the vendors for a used phone. U should be able to get a good phone for 1500- 3500 baht depending on your desires. The used phones all look pretty good. Most vendors will include 500 baht prepaid calling. Buy additional time. up to U. 
It is not just gold that the bargirls return after you leave.
