Can you experts please tell me a few internet cafes that in Sukumvit that allows my laptop connected to their LAN. What is the charge? Do I need to bring an ethernet cable or they will provide one? Also, if I am using my modem, is the standard us RJ11 plug compatible with the Thai phone plug?

There is an internet cafe on the 2nd floor of the Times Square Building (next to Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit) that will let you connect your laptop. You don't need to bring a cable. I assume the charge is the same for using their own computers, which is quite reasonable, and a very good deal if you purchase a membership card for about 600 minutes (if I recall). I have not been there in about 9 months, so I don't want to quote you an exact charge. Good AC also.

I used several places to connect when I was there last. Cheapest, and most interesting was behind the gas station by the entrance to NEP. Looking over the sholders of the bar girls while I was sending my stuff out. Their emails made fascinating reading! Also opposite the Dynesty Inn there was a place I used. Cannot remember the cost, but it was not expensive.
