What's the cheapest way to call a Thai mobile from a UK landline, and also, from a UK mobile (if possible)...
I am in contact with a girl, she phones me and I phone her, but my phone bill has "gone up" let's say, pretty substantially.
Are there international "phone cards" or something that I can get to keep the cost of the calls down for a 1 off payment?

I now use 1cellnet, which has extremely good rates, to any mobile phone in Thailand 0.15 American per 30 sec or 0.07 American per 30 sec to any landline in Bangkok. It's even better rates for people staying or living in Thailand to call, America, UK or Australia just to name a few. If you need any more in formation then just send me a PM.

I have been through many, many calling schemes for calling from USA to Bangkok landline and Thailand mobile phones. Many have been crap-quality, with lots of delay or a bad connection. The one I have been using is:

Call quality is perfect, like they are next door, not around the world.
From the UK, you could use this one:

Quality is supposed to be good.
One last thing to look at.... when calling the UK from Thailand on my 1-2-call mobile, I dial 009-44-number and the call is charged at 7 baht+tax per minute to a UK landline or USA phone. This rate also applies to many other countries. Last month, I spent over 3 hours on the phone to USA and UK, I find quality is excellent. This 7 baht promotion rate ends 31-Dec. There is another thread in this section on this topic.
It might be the same rate from DTAC or Orange, you'd have to check. This might be a better way than you calling her.

From the UK try telediscount - call 09119120120 then wait for the prompt then the thai number (use 0066... from UK) the charge is 10p per minute from a landline to a Thai mobile.

I second that: I use Skype with ADSL and the quality is amazing! It's just like if you were 10 inches far from the other person.....

I use a french system which is the best price I found, but the Skype I read here for 0,02eu is much better, then I checked the Skype website but the rate I found for thai mobile is 0,107eu VAT inc and for thai bkk normal phone I see 0,057eu VAT inc.
If any french people here are interested, I use http://www.lesminutes.com system, then with your credit u can choose 3 call options : from mobile phone, from normal phone with no local call charge + 0,36eu to join a thai mobile, and from normal phone with a local call charge + an interesting rate to join a thai mobile wich is 0,0728 eu/min. I have no idea of what is the local charge when I use it, I will check to see if all in all Skype is better
