There is a Acer shop in Panthip (2nd floor). But I think they are only there for support and repair. But I am sure they can put you on the right track. Also good places for laptops: Global Solutions (3rd floor) and the larger shops like IT City (upstairs) and Data IT (2nd floor).

Don't know where you are from but just keep in mind that most imported products are likely going to be more expensive in Thailand than in your home country. Also consider warranty and support and areas in which you are covered. If you buy it in Asia you may not get support for it in USA or UK. I don't know of a model 2025, but Acer has a 2020 model listed on their website. When it comes to investing in something like a laptop you might want to consider buying from a more reputable company. If something goes wrong, you are going to want a company that stands by and backs their products. Their website could be an indication of the support you might receive in such circumstances. I personally recommend the IBM T Series laptops. Solid laptops that come with a three year international warranty.

Thanks Guys, Gator I live in Thailand, but travel on business worldwide. So tech support in Thailand is necessary. Acer have pretty good rep (unlike Sony who I bought from before) and give a three year warranty, most reviews are pretty good also. regards

If you travel you may want to look at Singapore to purchase your Laptop. Like Gator I (we as we have 5 or 6 in our Office after trying out Toshiba's, Acers etc) have had a very good run out of IBM Laptops (Currently a T Series). There seem the best built and I got a 3 year Local plus 1 year International Warranty!

Sony laptops suck. They look nice but that's about all. According to Acer's specifications it looks like it comes with 1 year and optional additional 2 year coverage at a cost. It is of course your money and your choice, but I stand by my recommendation of IBM's laptops speaking from someone who has to support a few thousand daily.

Is IBM's support any good in Thailand? I have to say I am really impressed with the support from Fujitsu. I had a problem with my video screen and took it into Fujitsu. Didnt have my receipt but they looked it up on the computer. They took it away replaced the video parts and returned it to me in 2 hours. Errrr.... they look pretty good and seem to work pretty well. (I support one laptop - with a little help from my IT department.) But I am thinking of getting the New Sony T1xx - that looks awesome.

I unfortunately cannot personally speak for their local support in Thailand. I know it exists, but short of that I have had no personal experience with them. I have been to the office, but that's about it. I can vouch for their International standards however. Pound for pound and ounce for ounce, I think the IBM T Series packs the most value for your money in some of the smallest, thinest, and lightest notebooks on the market. The second best laptop is probably a Dell in my opinion. I strongly suggest staying away from Sony laptops. They are all style but very difficult to support. Pray nothing ever goes wrong with it. HP/Compaq are also pretty low on the list.

Are you trying to say that Thailand is a very expensive place? I mean, you say that without knowing where he is from, most likely things here will be more expensive. So, in general Thailand is more expensive than Finland, Italy, India, Australia, Greece, Morocco, Holland, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Norway, Argentina, Mexico, Egypt, Iceland, Guatemala, Brazil, Germany, and so on...... afterall.... we do not know where he is from, but we certainly know that most likely it will be more expensive in Thailand than wherever the hell he is from. Sorry Gator, but to me, saying that not knowing where he is from things here will be more expensive doesn't make much sense.

My partner in my company swears by the 2025. He is tough on any computer, had his acer for a year, and hasn't busted it yet. Acer is better known here in Asia than in the West. Yes the Web site sucks. The 2025 has a feature that allows you to play DVD's without booting up. Sound is great and so is screen quality. There are a few models within the 2025 range. Having said all that, means nothing if there isn't convenient service center around. By the way IBM lovers, watch out for fakes. They do make 'em where I live, seen a few, and they look....charming!
