Hey guys,
Need some help on this one.
Back in BKK March 1st. Think I'll head down to MBK
to convert my old 3310 and buy a pre-paid sim.
So, after conversion can I still use my old farang sim
card, just switch between them ?
How much do I have to pay for the conversion ?
Hope you can help me out here

Yes...I can and have used mine at home when I last visited....I paid 150B first time and 200B for the second phone I converted

i understand that you can buy a siemens basic phone for about 3000B. is this true and where? what type of info do i need to present to start service? and which service is the best one for the price. and doing alot of text messaging?
the last time i was in bkk, i used my legit-tg;s extra phone. i had 1-2-call service. which i understand is expensive usage rates. in fact i remember her saying that thais call that carrier 1-2-call-back, since incoming calls are free.

incoming calls are always free anywhere in asia and europe!
if you want a cheaper carrier try orange or dtac! orange might have a thin coverage outside bangkok so if you are going outside bangkok better use dtac!

you will get basic mobile phones for as little as thb 3,000 including a sim card and a thb 1,000 phone credit at any mobile phone shop!

Found this from a vendor along Sukhumvit Road.
Price 500 B. Comes attached to a battery. Works on some Nokia models.
It allows you to insert two SIM cards into your mobile, and by typing *3370# it resets your mobile phone and switches to the alternate SIM each time. Great for those who are roaming with another country's SIM and using Thai SIM card as well.

Bought one of those long ago at MBK for less. It lasted only 2 days before it broke down. Didn't buy a replacement. Somehow didn't like it much.
