hello everybody, I need your help in something: I spent some days in Hong Kong where I bought an MP3 Player, a tiny little one so that I can have it in my pocket while listenng to the music. After returning in Bangkok, during a transfer of mp3 songs something went wrong. I removed the usb mp3 player and then nothing could happen. It opens, but no reaction to whatever buttins you press. Normally the software is lost. Although I have the software its imporissble to install it, because the computer does not recognise there is a USB device there anyway when I connect it! (only the "sound" that something is connected I heard, but nothing shown at the lower right of the screen).
I am not asking for IT help (of course if you can help me I would more than appreciate it!) but to five me directions on where to go. I spent 2 hours in Pantip Plaze but no service center would repair it for me (it is Torica OTO, japanese brand I think, not known here). Do you happen to know any service centre I could ask for help? Thanx I advance everyone. sorry for occupying your time!!

I would try a technical newsgroup or forum. Something like rec.audio.tech newsgroup. If you don't have direct access to newsgroups, you can use google groups (although there is about a 3-5 hour delay using google).

I assume you have tried using it on another computer just to make sure it is a problem with the mp3 player, if not that is step 1.
Then I would second the newsgroup idea even just try doing a couple of searches might pull something up.

Is there a reset button on the player? Have you tried removing the battery? Which OS are you using on your PC? Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the software?

I haven't tried it to another computer to be honest, but I don't think it's not the computer's fault as it still does recognize other USB devices I tried.
MarcC, I tried to remove the battery several times. There is not reset button. In fact when I press the button that turns it on, only the logo of the brand shows up, and nothing alse can be done. I am almost sure this is a software problem, and the key is to reinstall the software again. But when I connect it the computer doesnt recognise any USB device. Even when I try to run the software (already installed from the CD-ROM) it starts searching for devices connected to the computer...endlessly.
I never tried a technical newsgroup (i am not even sure what it is!)...but I will try and see how it works. So I guess there is no luck in fiding a service center in Bangkok, even for a brand not used in this country?
