I am planning to relocate to Thailand next year. I am researching Mobile phone services and have come up with the Nokia 3315 (B2900) and DTAC service. Have any of you had any really good experiences or bad experiences with either of these? Thanks

If you stay in BKK, Orange might have better rates.
Overall, DTAC and Orange tend to be not the best choice in remote areas.
1-2-Call (AIS) has the best reach, but the rates are the most expensive.

That may be so, but I found no reason to be disatisfied with 1-2-call service and coverage area. Their customer service is also quite top nothc. Yes, they cost a bit more, but not by much.

I doubt that... My previous example of a standard 15 minute call (standard non restrictive rates) :
1-2 Call 15 x THB 5 = THB 75
Orange 1 x THB 2.50 (first 30 seconds)
1 x THB 0.50 (next 30 seconds)
14 x THB 1
= THB 17
THB 75 vs THB 17.... around 450%.
Of course the difference of short calls is not too much.

Of the three services DTAC, Orange, and 1-2 Call what can I expect to pay say for 60 minutes Thai (mostly bangkok) and say 10 minutes to USA during a given week? Basically I am looking for a service provider that provides a good balanced service between the two. Thanks

I guess the international rates won't differ too much. They are all determined by CAT.
Orange (11 pm - 5 pm)
THB 3 first minute
THB 1 next 59 minutes
DTAC (In your 'Happy' time slot)
Same
One-2-Call (With the limited time cards)
60 x THB 2.50
