I'm finally getting with the program and bought a wireless Internet card for my laptop. Works great at the hotspots I've tried so far in Bangkok, but they're all bloody expensive! For example, prepaid accounts for the KSC hotspots in Starbucks and other places are B150 for 1 hour, or B600 for 5 hours, or B1500 for 20 hours (See http://wifi.ksc.net/buyOnline.php).

TOT hotspot prices are even worse: B200 for 1 hour, or B450 for 3 hours (see http://www.tothotspot.com/eng/product.html).

Anyone know of something cheaper, either prepaid or a subscription plan? A subscription plan for unlimited access would be perfect. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I remember something about being able to access KSC wireless hotspots if you sign up for their home broadband service. Anyone know?

What about the pricing of True wi-fi hotspots? Do you get free access or a discount if you sign up for their home broadband service?

Also, does anyone know of a website that lists wireless Internet hotspots in BKK other than http://www.thaiwirelesslan.com ? That doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list. I don't see any TOT hotspots in their list, for example.

Thanks

If you are a dTAC post-paid mobile subscriber you can get unlimited free KSC WiFi access. There is a button on the KSC website where you enter the dTAC mobile number, which becomes your user name, and they will send an SMS with the password. Maybe you could find someone who is a subscriber and ask them to help? That is what I did. Or maybe sign up for a monthly plan on dTAC for a little while?

I noticed a free, open WiFi network eminating from the Apple store there in the Siam Discovery center. I was in the Starbucks using KSC at the time. There were a few people outside sitting on a bench accessing that network.

You can find the 20 hour pre-paid KSC card for closer to 1,300 THB in many shops. I bought one, before I got the dTAC access, at a shop in Fortune IT mall.
