Anyone tried this service yet? I just got an invite from one of my thai friends. She works at a hotel in Bangkok. You get five free SMS per day and then there are fees. Still exploring the site to figure out all the rules but looks great. Can do everything via the web.

I keep getting invites also, tried it at first but decided not to sign up:
1. They keep automatically sending you invites every couple of days without the consent of the original person who invited you;
2. Due to (1) I dont trust what else (spyware etc) they might load on your computer (after I uninstalled it I ran a spyware scan - had a few on my system but cant say 100% they were related) ;
3. They actual use of the software is quite unwieldy - for me, Id rather pay and forego the 50c or so saving.
Others however, may like it.... as they say "up to you".

there is no spyware but you need to keep invite people to get free sms. Yahoo has free sms to thailand as well so does ICQ but diffrent networks.

Tried using Yahoo but keep getting service is unavailable. What am I doing wrong?

So, what's the matter? You guys can't afford the ridiculously low cost of international SMS?
T-Mobile charges me 15 cents (US) per message to Thailand. If your carrier charges you more, time to switch. If you're on T-Mobile, you just wasted more money looking for a free lunch, than the free lunch costs you.

sms.ac should be avoided imo.
Do a search on Google and you will find out why.
I don't know if it's spyware as such but the fact that sms.ac markets itself by e-mailing all the contacts in your address book should tell you something about their business ethics. Legitimate companies don't market their products in such a way.

Well, DD, I signed up using my Thai Cell number which is set up for international roaming. I have always been able to receive SMS messages in America but could not reply from the U.S. Now I have been easily able to reply to the messages I've been receiving for zip. As of this writing I have received about 5 messages with no change in my sim card balance. My sim card is set up for international roaming and the SMS.AC service has worked to perfection so far. Might be a different story if using a USA phone. I'll let you know if my balance total changes but as of now I had 357 baht remaining and still do.

I have a friend that went ahead and signed up. It asked him if it could send out to his address book invites to everyone. He unclicked all the names, but it still sent out invites to everyone on his address book. It has sent me two invites without his permission.
