I am moving to LOS mid August this year from Australia. I have a collection of VHS music video tapes. When I was watching the various music video channels on TV, I taped the clip and have about 900 music clips, on 15-18 VHS tapes. LOS is going to be my home for quite a while and I need my music. Some of the video clips go back to the 60's and have been collecting them since about 1980. Is anyone out there that can tell me if I can have the VHS format burnt onto DVD's, and where and about how much. Also if there are any members living in LOS who might be interested in some great oldies video clips. I stopped taping about 2 years ago and there may well be over 1000 songs. Thanks for any help Barrafish. PS, there are no porn one's either, 5555.

Here is another possibility. You can convert analog (VHS) to digital MPEG 1/2 at home by use of a USB converter box. I have seen them for sale at Seri Center. You would also need a DVD burner. I think I paid 3500 baht for mine. Then blanks (DVD-R) are around 20 baht each. Otherwise plan to pay 600 baht each DVD at Pantip Plaza for 1 hour content per DVD. I think doiing it yourself will be considerably cheaper. PM me if you want me to furnish the details of the converter & price. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Edit In: If I remember right the converter is 9500 baht.

Thanks Dotcom, This could be an expensive exercise. But then again to watch Midnight Oil, Stones, INXS, Shania Twain, etc instead of local music would be well worth it. barrafish.

There's also a method utilizing a digital VCR and even some digital players/recorders. If a friend/relative has one and you can borrow it before you leave Australia, you can do the job yourself over a weekend or two. You can read about it at: http://pcworld.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm? site=http://pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,113461,pg,3,00.asp Or you can check around for a cheap multi-system analog VHS player. Because such players are coming outdated, you can buy used ones for a song.

Considering the price of DVD-recorders has plummeted over the past year, do yourself a favor, and pick up a cheap DVD-recorder, and do the job yourself -- and you end up with a recorder that allows you to record anything you watch from now on.
