sorry, where did I say that? shows u dont read what I post i said in a few weeks YOU can have it - when im finished playing with it and its status has decreased - I even told u that I will sell it in a few weeks to someone more stupid than me i did use it with my dubai sim, when I was in uk, now I have my own one being sent to me, it will be here later today or tomorrow hopefully, no doubt that gives u more excuses to belittle me, but I can assure u the one I have is fully unlocked and everything works with any sim. if u want I will send it to you to examine

Quote: from snpark on 12:16 am on July 15, 2008 oh come on daffy, theres millions of george hotz's, he was just the first one!!
Again, incorrect. The number of folks involved may number in the hundreds. The number of people actively involved in hacking, researching and engineering numbers in the dozens. The number of folks actually responsible for breakthroughs, and on whose works subsequent unlocking software is based on are less than 10, if even that many. You vastly overestimate what's going on with these thing - furthermore, the few breakthroughs are then quickly taken by others, who wrap user friendly guis around them to bring us the jailbreaking and unlocking utilities. But without that handful of essential hackers, none of the subsequent utilities would exist.
Quote: from snpark on 12:16 am on July 15, 2008 incidentally he went on to work for apple for a while, then to google
GeoHot never worked for Apple - he NOW works for Google.
ok well trust you to take me literally - ok maybe not millions but do you seriously expect us to believe you that less than TEN people in the world were trying to hack / unlock the first iphone? really? and do u really think I made up a story about that george bloke?? it was on one of YOUR links - it said after he hacked it, he worked for apple briefly on their development team (gps?), then they had a falling out, and now he is an intern at google? why would I make that up? I never heard of the bloke let me see which one of your links it was on - it shows u dont even read your own posts let alone mine!!

GeoHot worked for the 'iPhone Dev team' - it is a self-named and self-declared hacking group centered around the iPhone -- it has no association with Apple. It is with THEM that he had a falling out. Also, there is a HARDWARE unlock that came out of Brazil, yesterday, billed as the FIRST unlocked iPhone 3G. Kinda interesting claim, if the phone you claim you saw predates it by days. Not only that, but the hardware unlock is the old thin-SIM sticker, that makes the phone believe your SIM is from a compatible carrier. Not really qualifying, genuinely, as an 'unlock', per se. A jailbreak's out (also, THE FIRST) jailbreak, but not released yet, to anyone. Similarly, the Dev team guys have acknowledged the problems of UNLOCKING an iPhone 3G, and how currently no iPhone 3Gs exist. Do let us know when you get your unlocked iPhone.

wow talk about splitting hairs ok my apologies for not knowing that apple did not "own" the iphone development team that was not made clear in your link perhaps instead of accusing me of lying all the time you could just correct me and update us with this information and share more of your knowledge with us instead of being an ar5e all the time why dont you try being pleasant and well mannered for a change you could have easily just said before "actually he never worked for apple but he did work for the iphone development team which has no connection to apple"

hhhmmm seems you are loosening up on your denials? no suddenly there is an unlock from brazil?? yes, they claim to be the first so what is stopping someone else already having unlocked it? are you starting to eat humble pie now and realise that perhaps im not the stupid liar you keep accusing me of being? and now u say also there is a jailbreak out - of course the first one as well, but amazingly it has not yet been released to anyone but you are aware of it. so if it has not been released then how do you know it works? because 1 man has a photo on a web site? have you actually seen it with your own eyes? or maybe its only me thats the liar about my unlocked iphone dont worry u will see mine, I will figure out a way to send u a video or photos of it

No, because there is no actual unlock, and certainly no unlock at the time you claimed. The current 'unlock' is also NOT an unlocked iPhone, but the use of a specialized SIM -- which is not currently, and was not previously, available.

Back to business as usual, and the actual contents of this thread. I will reiterate my recommendation to short, or sell RIM stock, especially after the recent reveal that Apple sold 1 million iPhone 3Gs in 72 hours (it took 72 days to reach that same mark for the original iPhone), and recent analyst recommendations regarding RIM, and the rather severe beating they are bound to be taking. http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/07/16/iphone.3g.threat.to.rim/ Like the article points out, RIM is not about to go away, but it will suffer some serious losses and reductions in its market standing as a result of Apple's success. Sadly, this will be a casualty on the path of Apple's success, and eventual beating of the Windows Media Platform (the battle of which won't really take place until Google's Android has something substantial to show - as Android is an Ally of Apple's in that battle.) Oh yeah, and RIM is readying the Thunder in a hurry: http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/07/16/bberry.thunder.for.october/ But seeing as how that's ALL it is, just a single phone, they are missing the boat of the ecosystem Apple offers. I have a feeling that a) it won't have QuickTime support (WMV only), that b) there's be no Mac support and c) it will ship with hastily incorporated Flash (which will demonstrate to the world why it's good for the iPhone not to have Flash).

well one would assume (foolishly it seems) that anyone working for the "iphone development team" was in some sort of official guise under apple, and if not that apple would have told them to stop using that name surely? i disagree with you regards rim stock, ok apple sold 1m phones, of which 950,000 are still waiting to be activated - but how many more will they sell in the coming weeks? it seems everyone who wants an iphone wanted it now, and as everywhere seems to be sold out too, surely thats all the demand apple forecasted for now? im sure once the blackberry bold and then thunder (touch screen) and then kickstart (flip / clamshell) come out that you will also see a lot of publicity etc about rim and stock price. but rim users / owners arent the sort of people to feel it necessary to queue up 48hrs beforehand just for a phone, the current one is good enough that it can be replaced / upgraded at leisure can I ask you then between iphone v1 and v2 (3g) what is the difference apart from 3g that you cant get from a software update? why are these people queueing for a phone that is already in the market - surely not just for the 3g? and with regards the thunder, not everyone is that desperate for flash, quicktime, mac support etc, believe it or not some people still use computers, laptops, desktops etc, the blackberry is only supposed to make business communication simpler - not completely eradicate the computer it seems to me that you are trying to say that one day the iphone will be so advanced that we wont even need our macs / airbooks etc - surely isnt that shooting yourself in the foot? shouldnt jobs be making gadgets that complement each other - if my iphone is so great what do I need a laptop for?
