If you are looking to get yourself an iPhone, this may be of interest to you -- I plan on swinging through Bangkok (on the way to Hong Kong) in about two weeks, and I would be bringing some iPhones with me.
I'd like to offer up two of these, at a limited price, for select interested BTF members. Your iPhone would be hand delivered, unlocked, and ready-to use on any Thai GSM carrier.
These are Apple certified (refurbished) 4GB models, that I purchase for $299 (plus shipping and tax), and would offer to interested BTF members at $400, delivered. For your information, the certified/refurbished models include the iPhone dock, and USB charger, which the new models, at $399, no longer include. The most notable difference is that these are shipped in a white, not a black, box. Everything inside is the same, though.
These iPhones are being unlocked using the lastest iUnlock_Reloaded code from the iPhone Dev team, including the Lockdown_Flash that prevents the usual dialog box requiring re-activation after a SIM swap (i.e. in these units, you just swap the SIM, and it recognizes the new carrier). The iPhones will require a manual configuration of the EDGE/GPRS settings, depending on your carrier to enable internet access via GPRS / EDGE via DTAC or AIS. I will be providing details on these settings.
Furthermore, or note, that the unlock method used is purely software, and thus no hardware changes were performed. Furthermore, this also means that any future software updates from Apple has the potential to wipe out the unlock, requiring possibly a new unlock to be performed. You have the option of providing an email to be notified of any breaking news regarding this, and/or instructions on how to unlock the phone again in the future, if this were needed.
As I said, this offer is limited to two phones in total, with one phone per BTF member. It does not require you to prepay- I will purchase the phones, you reimburse me once I arrive in BKK, and we can arrange a location of your choice for the handover -- though I have a feeling we'd end up meeting at Toxic
