Pervasive lag? On a mobile device that's running the very latest Android version? Powered by one of the beefiest mobile processors in the world? Samsung's cream-of-the-crop phone running Ice Cream Sandwich is still, still laggy?
'nuff said. Apple figured this out 4 years ago - and Google and Samsung's combined "might" haven't been able to maintain a 1:1 kinetic ration? WTF?

This ad for Samsung just popped up on my Facebook: "Introducing the world's first smartphone to run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, with a 4.65" HD Super AMOLED screen. Discover it here." OK, I give up. What the f*** would Android Ice Cream Sandwich be? That sort of shit is a good enough reason for me to avoid a Samsung phone. Geez.

The only ones who know (or care) about Ice Cream Sandwich are inveterate Android fanboys, or the minuscule demographic of Apple haters - Samsung (and other Android manufacturers) seem to erroneously believe the average consumer cares about the underlying tech, and google internal development code names. Precisely what you confirmed.

Where do they get those names? I mean "Android Ice Cream Sandwich" ??? And somewhere there is someone who is getting PAID to come up with such name for a piece of software... And it is even madder to think that somewhere someone actually forked some money thinking this name was a GOOD IDEA?

I'm not sure I follow your logic. Since when has naming gadgets, software or operating systems made any sense? Whatever. My latest mobile is the Samsung Infuse. I've had it for 3 months and love it. Great screen, very fast, very smooth. It's a little on the large size but with my aged eyes and not so petite fingers its suits my needs perfectly. 8MP camera is perfect for taking pictures of my TGF eating her ice cream sandwich.

Ice Cream Sandwich.... sorry too much sugar for me. Seriously, I am happy with Foyo (another strange name) on my dual-sim Eclipse, it runs most of the apps I want, has performed flawlessly (including the touchscreen, and is extremely reliable.... which is good because being a China Phone that was built specifically for that OS I can not upgrade

^ it's "Froyo" which stands for "Frozen Yoghurt" - uncanny, is the word I was using, I believe, to describe your penchant for inaccuracy. The lack of support or longevity of Android phones really doesn't matter for those to whom the "smart" aspects of the phone are optional, or who wouldn't know "smart" if it hit them in the face. There's a definite market for sub $150 phones, particularly as the 70% of non-feature phones in the market migrate to become and be replaced by "smart" phones. That's really the market segment that Androd and iPhone will devour over the next few years, as RIM/Blackberry disappears, and Windows Phone will discover no one cares for them. Anything over $200-$300 will eventually be owned by the phone from the fruit company, though.
