There's apparently been some issues with TRUE Internet for a number of users - wondering if anyone on here has been affected?
Here are the directions from True for a workaround for users of
Firefox, it works almost exactly the same for Chrome as well.
If you are on a Mac you can set up system-wide proxies in the NETWORK section of SYSTEM PREFERENCES.
Open up your "Preferences" (this can be found under "Edit' Or "Tools"
depending on the version.
Click on the "Advanced" tab.
You'll see a "Configure how Firefox connects to the internet". Click
on the "Settings" button.
A box should pop up.
Click on the "Manual Proxy Configuration" radio button.
In the HTTP Proxy box, type in: proxy.trueinternet.co.th port: 8080
Click on "Ok" at the bottom of the box and you're finished.

Many thanks for this, Daffy. I have a MacBook Pro running OSX Lion and Firefox with one of those "truemove 3G" usb sticks but since I am "down country" at the moment it is using EDGE TRUE which runs at the insane speed of around 84 kbps.
I'll see if your changes have any effect the next time I'm back in soggy Grung Thep.

True has been having some strange DNS problems over the last few months and for the most it has now been sorted. If you was on a standard line as in 5mg up then you could use p2p services such as skype and download torrents but anything else was a “no no” unless you used a proxy. In my office we also have the true 100mb line and it has had no issues. On one of our other lines (7mb) in lower Sukhumvit it is now very intermittent and is not being helped by the use of a proxy. Friends in the same geo area are having similar problems, more worse at night for some strange Thailand reason.

Little off topic but it's still about True internet.
Does anyone get or try out their cable modem (ultra fast internet up to 100 Mbps) ?
I called their call center and that person confirmed that it's avail in my area/street/address. Then she told me to go to True Shop to order the service b/c it's faster to sign at the shop than over the phone. I went to the shop and the person there told that my address is a condo....and you can not get cable modem at condo/apartment/coffee shop.
As for cable modem plan, you can get double speed (down and up) over the same price as DSL.

So, if condo/apt can't get the service, who can?
Sounds like someone who didn't want to work.

I had that issue in Singapore when I signed up for the new fiber-optic system that I knew was installed in my house because I watched the workmen do it.
The issue was that:
1. The local switch for the neighborhood was not fully activated -and-
2. Once it was activated the list of acceptable residences needed to be updated and promulgated to the vendors.
I would contact True and get a written confirmation that you house is activated for cable-modem and take that to the shop in question as he probably does not have the latest list...

As for cable modem plan, you can get double speed (down and up) over the same price as DSL.
Notice : higher maximum speeds.. read the reviews on Thai Visa. Most of those 100Mbs connections are not faster than DSL in real life scenarios.

I dream of such fast speeds. On a good day I'm usually at between 25 and 50 kbs with my Edge!
