Hi Bros
I'm returning in June and want to get this old phone working in LOS. It's version: 3.1.2 (7D11). Is this possible? I've seen varying degrees of success on some other websites. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Daffy
Thx for helping. Here are the answers to your questions:
1) I'm coming from California USA
2) my old carrier for this phone was AT&T. I've owned the phone personally for 3 years and it's had no carrier for the last year. Just been laying around in a drawer.
3) I use windows laptops and several iPads.
I'm happy to pay one of the local phone freaks in LOS to set it up if they can be relied upon. I normally go to that mall over at the corner of Soi Nana & Sukhumvit when I'm in BKK to get my phones. It's near where that new wineshop went in a couple of years ago.

Just call 611, ATT will unlocked your phone for free as long as you satisfy the contract. No need to unlocked it in bkk.

it AT+T will unlock it thats the best way because it will remain unlocked even if Apple changes something in a software upgrade,

As Juniper said - if you fulfilled the contract, AT&T will now unlock iPhones.
Call them up, and request the unlock. They will ask you for several numbers that are accessible on the iPhone Settings section, and within 30 minutes, your iPhone will be unlocked.
Easiest solution.
I did this and unlocked ALL of my old iPhones, back to generation 1.
