the saga continues. he wanted to put a pin code. ended up having his SIM blocked.
this is what he did:
the phone is nokia 6510
security settings PIN code request
I typed in a secret number
SIM was blocked
now its asking him for the PUK code
any standard PUK code for nokia??

No, you have to go to your service provider to get them to give you your PUK code which is related to your Phone Number/SIM. Some will ask for proof of ownership of the phone such as a receipt!

If it's a one-2-Call SIM, dial 1175 and request your PUK code.
They'll ask you for:
- your name [if you lie the first time, remember it for the next inquiry],
- your phone number [of the phone/SIM in question],
- the make and maybe model number of your phone,
- how you last filled the account and that amount,
- the full serial number that appears on the SIM card [so write it down before you call]
The Nokia 6510 user's manual talks about PIN2 and PUK2 codes. Don't bother to ask for them, One-2-Call hasn't implemented this yet.

Many service providers have a section on their website to allow you to get a PUK code. Usually in the "help" section. Worked for a friend of mine recently.
