Brothers,
Must be getting senile in my old age. I'm currently in the U.S. for business and am trying to return somebody's call. For the life of me, I can't seem to get the right number. I know we have to dial 011 then the country code (66) but what do we dial next? The "01" prefix, the BKK city code (2?) or is it the 1 without the 0? If I'm confusing you, that makes two of us. Any help from brothers knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know if your recipient is Mobilephone or not, but I call 66 and then the mobile number without the 0 in front and it works.

Yes, if you are calling a Cell/Mobile phone from the US you would dial 011-66- and then the last 8 digits of the number the girl gave you.
Example, in Bangkok if you are calling 01-123-4567 from the US you would dial 011-661-123-4567 for some reason though you cant always get connected, but if you keep trying you will.

Agreed, sometimes there is simply a poor connection and you need to ty later. And sometimes she has not paid the motnhly bill........

I dial 011-66 (then only the 1 of the 01) and then the number. It works for me. Also use a thai phone card (available in the US) it's a lot cheaper. About 120 min for $20.

There are certain times of the day when you shouldn't call, as all the international lines are maxed out. Call during the day in the US (or night time here), the connection is generally clearer. Just an observation.

Also remember that there also 09 prefixes now. My one-to-call card starts with 09 instead of 02.

Thanks BK and ABC. Guess this is why e-mail is so much better although it's not real time. Say, I know this subject is in another thread, but I'm headed back to LOS in early July if either of you want to make a night of it one (or hell, even two nights!).
