ok, I strolled by there and by the time I arrived at Ruay Jung I was sweaty. I walked from Sukhumvit.
There are a lot of OM places on Soi 18.

I can't comment on the 'ladies' you saw, of course, but I know that the lady owner works there and does massage. (she is definitely female) She would not be desribed as looking like a ladyboy by anyone, I am sure. She is quite attractive and in her late 30's I would guess. I tried to check the place out last weekend but couldn't find it. The directions given by Nic a couple of days later would have helped. While searching at the Sukhumvit end of Soi 18 I did spot another LB at a place called Yardre massage which is on the far corner of the first sub soi on the left. Perhaps this is the soi where these people look for work in the massage business.

Resurrecting an old thread. Despite my repeated trips to Orchid and now Kornwan, I like to try off the beaten path places.
