You very likely HAVE "come across it," but didn't realize it. They call it a ลูกไก่ ("baby chick"). It's quite effective at catching all the blood, and quite hard to notice. I've only noticed them a few times, and other times the girls have told me afterwards that they had one in, I was clueless.
