Hello everyone,

I'm starting this thread, knowing full well that many will not find it interesting.  Please feel free to ignore it, and get on to the "Where can I find pregnant dwarves from Kalasin?" thread...

The premise here is to list unique and fun places to find in and around Bangkok.  Nothing elaborate, just stuff which enriches the experience, and gets you wannabes even closer to 'old hand' status.

These kinds of places are NOT primarily about finding girls, but are a great way to get to know the city, and in the process, expand your horizons beyond Nana/Cowboy/Patpong.  Advanced participants will blend this with the quest for poontang.

I will open with an easy one, which I guarantee most bargirls will NOT know about, but which will be fun for you (and a suitable companion) to visit:

The Shrine to the Tree Goddess Chao Mae Tuptim

What is it: an animist shrine of large phalluses (penises)

Where is it: the southwest corner of the Nai Lert Hilton grounds (Thanon Withayu)

Thai women go there to leave small presents, often phalluses, to insure fertility, or to offer thanks for a successful pregnancy.  Although primarily animist (spirit-worshipping), there is a Buddha there, placed by those who wanted to encourage praying to Buddha instead of the spirits.

The Hilton grounds are really nice, and with a lot of trees, it is a nice place to cool off.

The babes at the pool are pretty hot, since the Hilton is a pretty classy place, and BGs are NOT the main clientele.  Many VERY hi-class babes can be found lounging around...

So, how about it?  I have a bunch more, but I want to encourage other explorers to contribute.  It doesn't have to be the Taj Mahal, just something you found to be a gem in the big, bad city.  Even a unique area, or neighborhood.  Like the street of gunshops in Chinatown...more later.

Experienced guys:  don't worry about your favorites being overrun: most guys won't bother.  But if you encourage the more adventurous, you may convert them into fans of Bangkok, or even Thailand, not just pussy.

best,

Okay I'll give it a try.....

I took my TGF to the Forensic Museum at Sirarat Hospital to look at all the dead bodies and torn off limbs. Many pictures of car crashes and mangled bodies. they have mummies and skulls and hearts and lungs and lots of dead babies(mostly strange variety of twins) I think we both had a great time. And the sex afterwards was great too.I wanted to sneak into the morgue and do it there but she was having none of that.
Directions:
Take the skytrain to saphin taksin(last stop at river) then take river boat up river until boat goes to the left bank of the river get off there and 2 min walk to Sirarat

Just walk inside the small sois in Chinatown where they have the street markets. You will see all kind of strange things.

Rent a long boat by yourself and ask the driver to take you around the small cannals to the west side of the river. See how people live "in" the river.

On Nut (Sukhumvit soi 77) sub soi 7 there is a temple with  a shrine dedicated to the heroine of the Thai Ghost story 'Nang Nak'. Interesting.

I have been told by one of the lost (local Thai) bros of this forum that there are a number of micro breweries in Bangkok and they are very popular with the locals.  The TG I was with brought me to one such place.  We had a great time eating Thai food, drinking and enjoying the live entertainment (Thai band singing Thai songs).  The place we went to was called the Brew Pavilion and it is actually on one of the maps on this website.  It is kinda on the bottom of the map by Ratchada Seafood Market.  I am sure some of the bros, especially the local ones,  know about this, but I think it's still worth mentioning.

The address is 93/3 Ratchadapisak Road.

The Thai that built my house has a mini-brewery at the old Big C Shopping Center in Pattaya.  Neat place to go and have some fun.

Anyone been to Koh Kret?  It's an island in the middle of the Chao Phraya river, across from Nonthaburi.

The island's main industry is ceramics/terra cotta, and many products can be purchased dirt cheap.  There is a paved walkway around the island (but be careful, it's longer than you think, and there is no shade, once you get away from the shops/factories).  You can find good deals on pottery, and eat at several small restaurants.  A long-tail boat tour around the island stops at various local businesses, and a place where you can feed the carp (after purchasing fish food, of course).  There is a restaurant built inside a rather complete DC-3 aircraft, and the usual riverside vistas.

Makes a nice (long) day trip.

Get there by the Chao Phraya River Express from Saphan Taksin BTS stop river pier.  Get off at the Nonthaburi pier, take a minibus to the Koh Kret pier (you drive through Nonthaburi, past the prison, to within walking distance of the pier), and take a ferry (3 baht) to the island.

Forget it. Bring your own.

I KNOW there are more guys who have found something neat in BKK - let's hear about it, even if it's short...

Recommended by a local I visited a restaurant called the Mango Tree.  This place is actually a classical Thai house that was built about a hundred years ago.  I went there for lunch and it was very peaceful and had excellent food.  It has indoor and outdoor dining and the traditional old style decor was beautiful.  When I was there I really felt like I was in someone's home.
