Where in BKK can one get a real shoe shine? Looking for the kind you can get at your typical airport in the US. I mean the "elbow grease" quality with the true spit shine quality. Tried the "free" shine at the Conrad. He should have paid me it was so bad.

I've actually had my dress shoes shined by the little girl and boy that frequent Big Dogs over at NEP. For 30 or 40 baht, they do a darn good job. And I get to exercise my liver while I wait, lol!

I have yet to find a real, honest to goodness spit shine in LOS. May have something to do with everyone wearing sandals but would expect at least one hotel to have the real deal.

If you do get a shoe shine then you might want to remove yer shoes first. A pal of mine got his shoes shone (or is it shined or shoned?) in Dallas airport and ended up with a black rim round his foot just at the top of where his shoes were!

Look up around local shoes stores along sukhumvit road that also do made to order shoes. also offer shoe clean & shining service, I believe.

It probably wouln't kill him to clean his own shoes just as it wouldn't kill any of us to go back to our rooms while in BKK and "polish our own bishops." But does that make sense in BKK? If you can pay for it cheaply, by all means take advantage.

The old guy that always hung out in front of the Mandarin Hotel in HK always slid playing cards around your ankles to avoid just that. Although, in LOS, with all the soapies available, my ankles have never been cleaner! No toe-jam build up either.

I was thinking about it in hong kong, I am thinking about it again. a professional shoe shine service. in front of major office buildings.
the spit shine in hong kong costs 40 hkd. the best guy I know works on the flyover, after you get off the MTR at admiralty and head towards the thai consulate or the lippo centre.
