Allthough this does not apply to UK, it seems like a Thai girl can be given a ONE VISA to visit all Schengen countries. She will have to point out the main destination and apply for a VISA there.

The 15 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

yes my TGF got the swedish schengen visa within 2 weeks based on visiting me & me paying for it. no need for her to show off money or anything just smooth as silk

however now I want to have her over for a year or more or even forever if I can't get a good job over there, but that leaves only 3 half bad options I'm afraid:

1. the easy obtainable 3 months turist visa, but after 3 months in europe she have to stay 3 months in thailand before she can get the next one!
2. a 1 year (extendable) au-pair work & residence permit requiring a sponsor host (myself or a 'fake' friend), swedish course & a good reason for her to go?
permit should be possible to get within 6 weeks!
3. residence permit (fiancee visa) 6-12months extendable BUT waiting time can be upto 1 year at the moment, but at least after 6 months she may apply for tourist visa...

any options or shortcuts I missed?

I had a Thai girl staying with me that I met from an internet dating site. I had visited her first in January and she came over to England for three weeks in May. If a girl lives in Bangkok, she's lucky. Mine lived in Chiang Mai, but had to travel to the British Embassy in Bangkok twice for interviews. Although I bought her Air Ticket and was sponsoring her trip, I had to produce copies of my business accounts for the past two years, bank statements for my business and private accounts for the last 6 months, copy of divorce certificate, copy of every page in my passport with a stamp in it. Talk about jumping through hoops! Even then, they only gave her a 2 month visa. We had to go through the whole rigmarole again with the Irish Embassy for the sake of 3 days holiday in Dublin.
Anybody also wanting useful information on Thai girls' Visas to the UK can get good info from the http://www.thailand-uk.com website
They explain things like this very well, as most members are married to or expecting to marry Thai nationals.
As I understand it, the main criteria for the Embassy are firstly that the girl has sufficient funds for her stay and secondly that she can prove good reason for returning to LOS afterwards. Family is not a good enough reason apparently, they would want something along the lines of a house or business owned by the applicant. It stinks doesn't it? One of my current crop of internet girls had applied to come here to see her Aunt in Norfolk, who is married to an Englishman. She was turned down because of the funds thing, but has appealed and her Aunt's husband has now promised sponsorship. Fingers crossed that it's OK

Yes, it does. Especially if you're full of sh_t.

It seems you already had your share of a internet
failure. We didn't see you talking about that in the
threads about cyberdating......

As it seems Hugh doesn't have a clue about how visa issuers think when it comes to girls returning to Thailand

1 - The applicant has to have young children
2 - The applicant has a substantial amount in the bank
3 - The applicant has property (real estate, land)
4 - The applicant has a job she's likely to return to (No, where not talking about THOSE jobs).

Mind these are ORs and not ANDs.

And watch out, in a moment his new signature....

DrLove is of course right about his list. But the fact is: The countries do have different policies. Some countries are very hard to get into - after reading this forum, USA seems to be among them.

One foot note: To get a Schengen Visa you now also have to have a sickness/health insurance.

My thai wife obtained her 3-months tourist visa (a little bit more than two years ago) for visiting me in France before we married without a big amount of money but with my help.

She had to have her flight tickets (round trip) - I was able to pay them with my visa credit card to a thai travel agency and the agency delivered the tickets by EMS to her.

She had to buy an health insurance (a few thousands baht).

She wasn't able to justify of any regular salary or financial resources, so I had to fax to the french embassy in Thailand a copy of my three last bank statements, of my three last payslips and of one taxation document (incomes) of the previous year.

I had to explain why I wanted to invite her in France (I had to write a letter where I explained that she also invited me in her family when I was previously in Thailand), I also had to send a copy of my passport (the page that includes my full name, photo, address...) and of the pages including the thai visa stamps. I also had to fill a document which is a proof of accomodation that you can obtain probably from your town hall administration services.

After that I phoned two times (first to be sure that they had received all the documents and that nothing was missing and a second time to know when she could come back to Bangkok in order to retrieve her visa), she obtained a Shengen 3-months tourist visa for 30 euros in a little bit less than one week after the embassy had received all the needed documents.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,

French Goat

Thank you for the responses guys, good info indeed.
Well I went to thailand again just recently, now im lookin into the future, I want to save up enough money to buy a business out there. I was thinkin about getting her a work visa for a year in the UK so we can save up together.
However, this is proving most difficult as apparently she needs to get a job before her visa, and in this country employers want to interview people before they start employment. So how on earth can she get an interview if shes 7000 miles away?
This is terrible!
