Mr Alan
Vegemite may be owned by the Australian subsidiary of a US company, but I would bet that only a small percentage of Americans know what it is. I have never heard of it.

It is still an Australian made product. 30 jars are sold in Australia for every one exported.

I don't know what the stats are, but a 30 to 1 is a hell of a lot of exports. I wonder which country is the largest importer then????

Vegemite is made in Australia. 30 jars are consumed in Austriala for every one exported outside of Austrailia. This is according to the following website:

Yes, you already said that in your previous post and I already knew Vegemite was made here. With you referring to stats, I thought you might also know who the main importer was.....

The side reference I made was that Vegemite was not Aus owned. In trying to promote local products, that is where the "100% Australian Owned" campaign and labelling came in and directly highlighted that the great Aussie icon "Vegemite" was no longer Australian owned.....

I don't particularly care who owns it, as I said, it was a side reference.....

BTW – “Austriala or “Austrailia” (sic) is spelt “Australia”….stick with Oz or Aus

Cheers

Anyway, enough of hijacking this guy's thread...

I don't want to get involved in Australian politics, but I am sure that 99.9% of the people in the Kraft owned subsidiary that makes Vegemite are Australians. I suspect that when Kraft purchased the Australian company that makes Vegemite, they received Kraft stock in return, so some proportional part of Kraft is now owned by Australians. Defining who owns what is no so easy.

Sorry for any typos that I previously made.

I brought about 100Kgs of "stuff" (books, CDs, clothes, photos etc) but no furniture as I expected to rent a fully furnished place. When I left LOS about 4 years later I found that I had very few things left that I had originally arrived with as I'd thrown away and replaced most of the "stuff".

Take as few items as possible with you, most things are available in LOS and what you miss you can always bring back from a holiday trip back to your country, if you reeeeely miss them!

Cheers
