How much closure hours can be enforced during Rainy season anyhow per area always ? let alone when they recoup break even during high season times.
Instead of closures why don't their tax bookeepers do a better job and just do % takes right away from the cash registrar and monitor undertable estimates better.
Gov's should be quality minded as to thier greatest asset of BKK; pussy, instead of letting the constraint of trade go to the wealthiest few; such as Chuwit created and being millionare from it.

new petcheburi and ratchadapisek are mainly for thai youth.20-30 yo.lot of thai style bars/pubs/clubs.i like it,but I speak average thai,and im 32yo. I consider it an option to go somewhere different.there are MP's there too.my suggestion is learn basic thai b4 you go to LOS as this means there more places to enjoy without feeling out of place.

Anyway, it sounds to me that, as always, this is just so much talk from the politicos, and that after an initial crack-down of the usual 1-3 months, things will have 'worked themselves out'... i.e. it's just a means for the cops to increase their individual income, and the various venues to figure out who to bribe.
Honestly, I have never understood what these politicos hope to achieve by creating a system of complex opening and closing times for various venues - of course, considering the background of TRT is the equivalent of the US' religious conservative right, their motives seem obvious. I just really don't see this helping the local economy any, though - but then again, that's not really what this is about, but I digress.
Frankly, I don't really lose sleep over it.

Fair question, but as I tend to enjoy and like Thailand, for both the nightlife, and the rest the country has to offer, I figured I would weigh in with an opinion -- unless this is a 'live here only club', and I am not allowed to have an opinion unless I live in BKK, ad have some embittered wisdoms to share...
Seriously, the reason why I care is mostly because every few months someone revives the usual 'the sky is falling, the bars are closing early' thread - which they somehoe believe to be some kind of Hiob's message of doom and gloom (I mean, see the name of this thread) - so I figured I would just weigh in with my opinion that this isn't really as dramatic as it is made out to be.
Of course, YMMV.

In fact, the 'on the ground' experience is very much different than the occaisional visitor experience.
One of the great comforts that a person seeks when living in Asia, is the hope that what you enjoy today, will be there tomorrow.
Even subtle shifts of policy can disrupt an expats comfort zone, to the point where the discomfort felt, out weighs the practicality of living there.
When MN says (not asks) "You don't live here, so why would you.", he means your bed, in your country, where you seem to 'not lose any sleep', is a whole lot more predictable in comfort level than you could ever imagine.
Dragging in your right to an opinion, is superfluous.

Any word as to whether any bars, etc. were made to close at 12? I seem to recall Suzie Wong was open past midnight.
Also, it seems Hotel bars are excluded. Makes you think Rivas & Spasso will be prime targets for anyone who didn't get BF'd earlier.
