Edit: Also agree student-teacher sexual relationship is highly inappropriate.

I wouldn't even venture a guess as to numbers, but many teacher-student relationships have resulted in awesome marriages. That's how John Nash, a Nobel Prize winner, met his wife.
I agree that it would be wrong to use it just for sex, but I myself hope to teach English in Thailand someday, along with being a pharmacist. I think either or both could prove to be good ways to meet the "right person".
I know from 7 trips to Thailand that I will not meet her at a bar. Others do, but for me the bars will only be for fun, not for marriage. If I ever do find the right woman, my trips to bars will end.

At the end of the day one can have all the diploma's and if you can't get up and impress the guy hiring you with your classroom performance in his office as you give a 5 or 10 minute demo, you're out the door.
The TEXT AND TALK course I took in Pattaya lasted longer then 4 hours a day. If I remember correctly it was more like 6+ hours.
They had an excellent teacher and the course materials were OK when I was there.
The cost of living in Pattaya is cheaper then BKK.

Did the CELTA course you did in England teach you anything about how to conduct yourself or what to expect when teaching English in Thailand?
Here are some things I've learned while I've been teaching here in Phuket:
(1) Thai students never complete homework.
(2) Thai students never practice outside the classroom.
(3) Thai students will speak Thai to each other in the classroom even when they know how to say the same thing in English.
(4) Thai students blatantly cheat in tests. This was a real eye-opener for me.
Other points to consider:
(1) A teacher who bothers to learn the nicknames of his students will have more chance of being respected as a teacher.
(2) The better dressed you are, the more respect you will have.
(3) The more alcohol that can be smelt on your breath the less respect you will have.
(4) If you think you can use English teaching as a means of picking up some skirt then you've chosen the wrong profession. Sure, it can easily be done (and it is definitely tempting) but word soons spreads and you'll be know as the farang ajarn who screws his students.

The most reputable schools will require applicants be properly qualified before even granting an interview.

John Nash's eldest son John was also a brilliant mathematician (but no Nobel Prize). Unfortunately, like his famous father, he was a paranoid schizophrenic. I saw both of them on 60 minutes soon after "A Beautiful Mind" was released, and his son was in worse shape that John Sr was.

I seek advice from bros on owning an English teaching school in Thailand. My gameplan is that I will not be actively involved in day-to-day running. But would visit every 3 months. That would be a legitimate reason to visit LOS. If the school does well and give some decent return on the investment that would be an added bonus
