Hi, I am 29 years old and I love thailand. I have once lived on Samui for one year and I had very interesting experiences. I have not worked for a farang company so my experiences were mostly due to exposure to native thai culture. You will have to be aware that thailand is so different from your home country that you might make mistakes here that you later on regret. Compared to germany, thailand is very extreme. In my opinion either it is extremely good or it is extremely bad. And although 99% of the time could be good and only 1% could be bad, this 1% might entirely break you down and let you lose control. I realized that thailand is presently not the right place for me although I really love the country. It has too many traps in terms of nice little things and beautiful opportunities. You would ask me:"why are beautiful little things so bad?" Well, in general there are no borders in this country on the first glance and for me thailand is like a drug. I get used to one exposure and I want more. I want it more extreme. That counts for girls, alcohol, cigarettes or fun in general (hedonism) and also the career. I have never found the way to combine both so I had to make my decision between career or hedonism. Precondition for hedonism is money and unfortunately I haven't saved a lot in the last years. So my plan is to have a great career first and later switch to the good life e.g. in thailand.
I have recently rejected to become the residence manager of a beautiful beach resort at 70.000 Baht per month. Therefore I decided to go to Montreal and stay with my large and competitive company. I am sure that my skills will be considered in the future so that my company or another company sends me to thailand and I can earn more to finance my extreme experiences

Sorry I hope I didn't confuse anyone. I am weird person in general. Basically I have to admit that I am not ready for this move and that I will wait until the right time has come.

Good luck for all my brothers who live there or who are planning to move there. I find it VERY impressing what you are doing and if I can help you out with any hints or tipps, PM me.

Ciao
