The US airlines normally are 32kg (70 lbs) per piece (not total weight), and two or three bags allowed to be checked, depending on FF status and whether you are flying business class.

Call the air frieght companies. Most airlines also have an air frieght section. the cost is per pound/kilo, and arival is just a few days from drop off.

. I arrived early at the airport and I found easily one passenger with a very small amount of luggages. I asked politely to register with her (yes, it was a young thai lady, "en route" to farangland!).

No problem... (but I am a lucky guy, certainly!)

Kop khun maak Khrup!

Lucky for her it did not contain smack, unbelievable how naive some people are

Cheapcharlie,

No problem about the contents either (each of us had his/her own luggage registered under his/her own name)... I just checked-in with her (she had only 13 kgs of luggage and with my 38 kgs, it was an average 25.5 kgs by person and then, it wasn't considered as overweight by the company staff).

And moreover, I had a pleasant companion during my flight... (that's also why I think that I was really lucky too)

my good buddy FG is absolutely correct

You can share the weight considerations when checking in, and your bags will still be under your own name

I've done this as a group before when travelling to the PI on Thai Airways

We had a couple of fellows who were going to stay for months, while most of us were going for only a week

We shared the weight, otherwise the fellows who were packing quite a lot of baggage would have been over the limit, & we all still checked our bags under our own name

Be seeing you

They are strict on hold baggage, but not on hand baggage, only its size.
Airlines do have regulations for carry-on luggage weight, but they usually don't weigh it unless it looks suspicious. Keep in mind that the weight of plane, fuel, passengers, and luggage is very important at takeoff, and the airlines try to closely estimate it for every flight. That is why they weigh the luggage. In addition to passenger luggage, most flights carry air cargo nad/or postal mail. The less luggage they take, the more cargo they can carry.

I was once on a plane when the flight attendent announced before take-off that all non-revenue passagers must get off the plane because it over-weight. Non-revenue passagers are airline employees who fly for free (or for a pittance).
