Thats is disrespectfull to the (at least 1000 ) people that had no hope that day on phuket beach. I was truely shocked at the dvd taken seconds before it hit. There was no running away, it was a big f***ing sunset type wave with billions of lites of back up, that engulfed a whole peaceful scence...so quick no one ran. This is a gay haunt forum, when thebitching extends to this level

He can't even get his chicken-little facts right. There were nowhere near 1,000 people killed in the whole of Phuket. He may be referring to the many victims in the Khao Lak region, which therefore makes his arguement (like him) totally worthless and pointless.

This herd instinct works diferent with different cultures. The example that always fascinates me is how people who don't know each other choose their seat in a coach in different countries. I guess it works very much like the cinemy audience described in this thread. Another nice example is the beach or poolside chairs, its always the same...
German people f.e. will always try to spread all over the available seats with almost mathmetical precision. Once they have settled everyone settling next to them is annoying
Italien people will always choose seats next to other Italian people to have a chance for a nice chat and company in general.
I have to admit: I envy those Italians and Thai for their easy social attitude and my northern/western sovereign territory attitude finally seems to be more of a social malfunction to me and more childish than the other one.
We live in herds, don't we, and thats the good news, not the bad.
