if ya wanna work construction you have to be posted here by an overseas company. The local salary's are absolute shit! I am Construction Manager on a huge Project North of Bangkok and I earn in a day what my Thai comrades get in a month, no kidding? A lot of big companies bring in expats, but its difficult to get the initial start. I was lucky in 98 to get a crank in the Philippines with John Holland, since then I haven't looked back! 180K a year [tax free], car, phone, all expenses paid. Who wants to go home to Oz and work for peanuts and put up with the Union bullshit?

Thanks, with two ex-wives in Oz I need a good job to keep my head above water. The thing is that the Jobs are out there..... a lot of blokes won't take the chance. A good friend of mine is the Site Manager on a big Project in the South of Thailand, he is offering more money than I am on for a Construction Manager He wants and expat with Power Station construction experience who gets the job done and doesn't bullshit around, but he can't get anyone. He reckons he'll havta get someone out of Japan. You have gotta stick your neck out and take a chance to get in the expat community. My old mans favorite saying was "bite off more than you can chew, an then chew like f*** son, you won't win if ya don't have a go"

Well Ive got no managerial experience whatsoever, but Im still young enough to change that I reckon. Im just worried about putting all my time and effort into something that might not eventually pay off when I do make the move to Thailand.
I like that saying though mate.
