Any changes in the visit visa requirements? Can I get visa on arrival by paying Bht.1000 and showing return ticket, as earlier?
Can anyone update me on this since I am planning to visit by end of sept.
The present situation in Thailand ? will it affect the life in Bangkok for visitors? especially the night life?

Don't know where you're from. But in general. there are no charges at all for a (30 days) visa exempt stamp when you arrive in Thailand. Only Cambodia and Laos charge for a visa.
As with the other 17 coupes and political turmoil, life is the same here and it doesn't affect life at all.

I had an interesting, but good, experience when I arrived at immigration on Sept 12th.
About noontime. No line at all at immigration. Last time, same time of day, I waited more than 1 hour.
I had a 2-entry visa issued in the USA May 29th. Thai Los Angeles web site says basically "use the visa within 90 days", but it also says for a 2-entry visa "enter before six months". I was past the 90 days and just hoping.
Sure enough, the immigration officer never asked any questions, never asked for return ticket or boarding pass, just stamped "good until Nov 10th". And, when I asked, he said I could just use the visa again, as long as it was before Nov 28th.
Everything good to go.

The six months refer to your first entry, the 90 days refer to the second entry (counting from your first entry).
You can ask for an extension of 30 days in Bangkok, but in reality it's only 17 days before you have to enter again (11 November until 27 November).
A double entry visa issued in Laos it different. There you have to use your second entry within 90 days after the visa has been issued.
