I believe most of the petrochem business in thailand is in refining and distribution. But with all the crazy stuff going on with TPI, foreign and local investment in this sector is going to be dead for a few years. Also don't know how many off shore safety specialists they need in Bangkok. Do you have to be onsite to do your job? I wouldn't say that thailand is not doing well. The outlook may not be as rosy as a year ago but the economy isn't nose diving. Though with asset prices going up as it is i do fear that thai's have not learned their lesson from '97.

tourist, Why not bust your balls in ME or China or Eastern Europe for one or two more years and then have an extended holiday (say two years) in Thailand. It will be a lot more fun than having to get up early each morning, kick that cutie out of bed and go to work, if in the land of Angels.

craigoz, ÝthatÝsounds a plan to me but... After that I'd have a 2 year gap on my CV - might be hard to explain. I'd prefer to work there than be on extended vacation. ÝI have too much of a working stiff mentality/personality. ÝOtherwise I think I would quickly become a degenerate living there. Ý

Re CV, When they ask what you did for 2 years, just say I travelled the world and dont offer to tell them that you got stuck in Nana Plaza for 720 out of the 730 days. The other 10 days = Visa Runs
