The 1000k would be dollars US. If you check some of the japenese website you will the sliding scales. A person with a masters degree certified to teach english and creditials as a math and science teacher for teaching children can earn between 60K and 80K US for teaching in private schools for corporations. The more degrees and credentials the more money. It is true even more so than in Us or UK. And the better the insstitution the degree came from, the more respect and money.
