I take a different perspective. One thing about coming to Thailand on vacation for short periods, is that one tends to feel rushed - feel that if one doesn't screw 3 different girls a day, each day, that one isn't using one's time maximally.
I was fortunate to have my first (and so far only) trip be a long one. I had time to relax. Some nights, I just read a book. Because I don't *always* want a girl for the evening.
More to the point is that for my purposes, it gets old having a several girls per day, every day, for two weeks. Or even one girl per day. I don't like to feel pressured to have sex, even if I'm the one that's pressuring myself.
Towards the end of my time there, it occurred to me how nice it would be to have access to that environment at a leisurely pace - to pick up a girl if I was in the mood, or if not, then not.

You're certainly right that it becomes a very different ball-game, with all the urgency extracted from the situation. Instead of being the centrepiece of an exciting sexual adventure in never-never land, the P4P stuff just becomes part of the everyday domestic backdrop and no huge deal. Before too long you have to start pinching yourself to remember that all this is seen as hugely bizarre back home, and a big no-no by most people. Here, it just seems so... well, normal.
Personally, I much prefer it this way, but I can see why some people don't - they miss the thrill of the sexotic adventure trip, the feeling of naughtiness and even the satisfaction of having a 'secret life' no-one else knows about. When you live in LOS, it's not nearly so easy to pride yourself on leading an exotic sex life.
Goes without saying that anyone settling here should have (or find) additional reasons for being in Thailand. If sex and the TGs are what it's ALL about, this can soon start feeling very foolish as well as unsatisfying. You might as well live here only for the food. Wonderful as these things are, they're just too ordinary in their homeland to sustain that intensity of focus.

I'll give my opinion from what I have learnt. It appears to me that Thais take full responsibility for the wording on their signs and brochures and would never consider consulting a farang for help in the wording or spelling. Of course, if we had to write a sign in farangland in Thai then we would get a Thai person to help us, no problem. For a Thai to ask a farang for help with something as simple as a sign is humiliating so they prefer to do it Thai style, errors and all.
And a word of advice: resist the temptation to correct the faults or say things like "you should get your sign fixed". This is very insulting to Thais.

I was just at the local Home Pro this weekend and the sign said:

You would think with today's spell checking software, the Thai's would at least run their material through "MSWORD"
I think I will start a photo collection for laughs, the best ones will be if you can find errors on large billboards.
