Hello all
Street begger would be cool. However I don,t think I could do that cause the street beggers pimps would off me for cutting into there turf.
My question mainly was for info on how to get a Job other then Teacher in Thailand that you don,t need a lot of degrees for ( Doctor lawyer stuff like that) ??? MY understanding is theres 3 ways you can live in Thailand 1 Get sent there by your company that you work for in farang land. ( This takes a lot cause you have to work your way up a corp ladder to even be considered getting overseas work) 2 Chuck it all and become a teacher. ( This is not something I think I could handle for very longand I only want a 15-20 hr job and I believe this is a full time one) 3 Have enough money saved up to live on till you die or get tired of living there. ( I would run outta money in 10 yrs or so IF I have no other source of income Thus the question of where to get a little side action job to pass the time) OK Guys let me know what you think

I think there are more options than the three you mention bound4bangkok. To say that expats can be categorised between either expat execs on a farang package, teachers or retirees is oversimplifying it.
A few of the guys on this board, for instance, fall into a fourth category - people who came over, loved it and then found a way to make a living here. Some set up small businesses in a variety of areas; others make a living daytrading shares. I know a guy in Bangkok who makes a living as a freelance writer - mainly for magazines here, but also writing words for corporate brochures etc. He does well from it.
Then there is the fifth category. The farang guys (and girls) who are employed here but are NOT on farang packages. They tend to earn Thai wages, plus some. Where I work, for instance, there are about four farang who work as 'english language reviewers.' They take the documents, contracts etc that the Thai lawyers prepare in English and basically just make them more readable. I believe we pay them between 50-90,000 baht a month.
I think there are plenty of opportunities for farang here. If you want to stay enough, you'll find a way. But fast food joints? Forget it. Why would any fast food chain go to the trouble and expense of getting a work permit for a guy earning 20 baht an hour, when there are 100,000 local school kids prepared to do the same job?

Don't think that would be an option for 'bound', as his diction and English would result in your documents taking a turn for the worse.
I'd suggest he take the extra time on his hands, and put it to good use getting an education and some additional skills - obviously, not an acceptable option for the troll.

Won't get you a work permit...and freelance writing in BKK pays shite.

And then there's the problem of not being able to legally get a work permit for that either...

Mark C. I asked him about that. He's here on some kind of 'journalist' visa. I don't think he has a work permit, but as a freelancer that doesnt seem to be hindering him picking up assignments and making a half decent living.

That'll be an M (mass media communications) visa. Either fiddled or he has to work for a foreign publication. It's a bit like the US -- you're allowed in to cover stuff for foreign publications but are forbidden to work for any local publication.
If he hasn't got a work permit he runs the same (minimal) risk as anyone else working without a WP. If he's picking up some freelance stuff good luck to him, but most (English language) publications pay very poorly and you usually have to fight for your cash -- with a couple of exceptions. If he's just topping up his salary (from whoever vouched for his visa) it can be quite nice bunts on top.
He should get over to the new WSJ (at least I think it's them) offices -- they're setting up a Thai operation, or try the UN if he's got a decent CV.

Just another example of the resident gooses ass opening his beak and sticking it up everybody’s crack before knowing anything, anything, anything much at all really.
Some guys here have met B4B and can attest to his genuine stupidity. Whereas with you, we all just think it anyway.
Why don’t you call him trailer trash as well, you might not be far off the mark, wait actually that would not be entirely accurate. Kind of like a cross between trailer trash and Hillbilly. Bit like your Ma and Pa goosey.
